President Bush secretly landed an hour ago and is currently eating Thanksgiving dinner at my undisclosed location. Anticipate a press release after he takes off.

Bush Makes Surprise Thanksgiving Visit to Iraq
Thu November 27, 2003 12:27 PM ET

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters) - President Bush secretly traveled to Baghdad and paid a surprise Thanksgiving Day visit to U.S. troops on Thursday in a mission to boost the morale of forces in Iraq amid mounting casualties.

In a highly unusual maneuver, Bush left his Texas ranch on Wednesday night, arrived in Iraq on Thursday and spent 2-1/2 hours with the troops before leaving aboard his presidential aircraft Air Force One.

WOW. I am so lovin this President. God Bless him.
Everyone at my house, all ages, let out a huge shout and converged on the TVs as soon as we heard. Even the teenagers are impressed. Now they're all trying to figure out why I headed to the computer. LOL.

Well, yes...an apology could be in order. However, the original post was just a little coy and secretive so you can't really blame those of us who couldn't read your mind.

End zone dance!!!

Gotta go! We have a two-hour drive ahead, and it's already nearly 10. We're going to get fussed at for being late. Enjoy, everyone!!! I'll read the rest at work tomorrow.

MSNBC reporting that Bremmer and Gen. Sanchez were hosting a T-day dinner for about 500-600n troops. Gen. Sanchez begins to read a message from the president, then breaks off and ask if there's anyone more senior there who can finish it. That's when the president appears. Oh, I hope someone got that on tape...

dummies in shock. only calling this a photop, criticizing the brevity of the trip and security coverup to surprise troops.

It should be reminded that x42 could NEVER surprise troops like this. His visits had to be planned and then they actively reminded the soldiers it was an offense to criticize the president. x42 could not afford to trust the troops and the troops did not trust x42.

GWbush on the other hand, can make a surprise visit without such fears.

This president has personal GRAVITAS.

Eleanor would like for us to believe that Hillary won't use her visit in campaign ads.

I wonder if she had word of it and her visit to Afghanistan was an attempt to upstage him.

No way - if she had known about Bush's Iraq trip, it would have been leaked all over the media and they may have had to cancel.

Hillary better take care when she lands in Iraq. You can't darken landing lights and close windows on a broom.

Notice how the sour-puss changed as those words left her wrinkled mouth! She looked like her dog died up until that point.

President Bush did this because he cares about the troops. People on this thread who think it had anything to do with Hillary! are being ridiculous. Look at all the trouble and risk the President went to for this special visit? He's the BEST!!!
