I'm Looking for "Patriot Act" Success Stories

Posted on 12/08/2003 12:16:58 PM PST by PureSolace

All week long I've been talking with other students at the school I go to about the pros and cons of the Patriot Act, and I was wondering if any freepers had any information to contribute. Does anyone have a list of success stories or embarrassments because of the Patriot Act? From the searches that I've done it seems most of the websites on the net are anti Patriot Act because they say it can be abused and target regular everyday citizens, and even peaceful protesters? (That one baffled me) Anyway, Any information or insight you guys can give would be wonderful. Thanks :)

Dude, seriously...you need alot of help.

This I found scanning your a'hem...sources...

"There were no "suicide" pilots on those September 11 jets. The jets were controlled by advanced robotics and remote control technology, not hijackers. October 6, 2001." http://www.public-action.com/

"The War on Terror is impossible, not in the sense that it cannot cause immense amounts of bloodshed and destruction and loss of liberty, but in the sense that it cannot finally achieve what it is suppose to achieve, and will only end in creating more of the same conditions that led to its declaration in the first place. You really are a Black Helicopter type arent you?

"You really are a Black Helicopter type arent you?

You still have not refuted the "US Department of Treasury" inventory list.

Your response?

One [1] Image of a single M1A1 Abrams tank within ten miles of the Mt. Carmel compound.

I do not need an image when I have the "US department of Treasury" admitting the tank was there. Are you a fool or what.

What are you getting at?

Are you trying to convince folks here that an image with a M1A1 tank was manipulated to freak everyone out. ....And the US department of Treasury faked it's report to sensationalise WACO. Are you nuts? Please explain your thoughts...

I rather believe facts in addition to a government report rather than someone trying to act important and who is in lala land. Folk here don’t believe silly “on-the-fly” statements.

You're welcome. I goofed up though. VaBthang4 reminds me of Himmler, not Goebbels.

I am amazed they trust you to handle a weapon of any sort.

What kind of selection process does our US Marine Corps have these days? Are they hurting that bad for recruits?

Grut: if you'd think about it for a minute, successes under the Patriot Act will never see the light of day. Why you ask? It should be clear that whatever we do that stops attacks, we want to do again!!

Now if we go around blabbing all about our successes, our methods and techniques, these same techniques and methods won't work again...unless our enemies are really stupid. And they aren't.

So, knowing that the administration is hamstrung on revealing successes, its enemies, both political and terrorist, will hurl "curtailment of freedom" charges in an attempt to, (1)hurt the president politically, or (2) learn how to circumvent the methods and techniques that thwarted terrorist activity.

So you see, don't you, that whining about imagined curtailment of freedom under the Patriot Act actually helps America's enemies. And, surely that's the last thing on your mind isn't it?

If you have a specific complaint on how the Patriot Act has slighted your freedoms, I suggest you take it to the nearest Department of Justice office. I sure that they can explain to you how your rights were not violated - unless of course your messing around where you shouldn't be!

From the searches that I've done it seems most of the websites on the net are
anti Patriot Act because they say it can be abused and target regular everyday citizens,
and even peaceful protesters? (That one baffled me)

It should...because some of those sites (e.g., The ACLU) have lots of members who
love the United Nations...which wants to take control and make money off (tax)
the internet world-wide.

Myself, I'm glad those groups are protesting the act, even if it's just an excuse
to beat up on Dubya and Ashcroft, in some cases.

What suprises me is that I searched this thread for any mention of what Senator
Feinstein said about the Patriot Act.
As loath as I am to cite the word of a Democrat from California, sometime in the
past couple of months, an audio clip from Feinstein was on radio news.
The Senator said her office had been hit with quite a few calls of concern about the
Patriot Act. Finally, she called The ACLU (that's been using the issue to get
more money in their coffers). Feinstein said that when pressed to tell her how
many cases of abuse of the Patriot Act they were aware of, the ACLU staffers finally
said "None".

Another reason there may be a lot of concern over the act is a conservative Christian
legal advocacy grouped got to provide some input on parts of it. The group is
The American Center For Law And Justice (www.aclj.com...or is it .org?)
and one of their chief lawyers, Jay Sekulow has mentioned that
he got to have discussions with Ashcroft during the drafting of the act.
For this reason alone, the alarm buzzers would go off at the ACLU and the offices of
all their fellow travelers.

Don't get me wrong...the Patriot Act (like all legislation) should be
critiqued and if missued, amended or junked.

As to success stories, the average citizen may not be able to know much about that...
as it may be used in fairly discrete fashion.
Plus, the government may use it to get info that helps them prevent attacks, but
stays quiet in order to not tip their hand to the terrorists (or to protect
informants/operatives).

Let's see one specific example of somone's rights being trampled by the Patriot Act. The Libertarians at FR will whine about any law, rule, or regulation like a bunch of adolescents. But if we get attacked, they will be the first ones bitching about the government not protecting them.

Wow...you found my profile page...OH NO!!!

Hahaha...Dork!

Hey here are some more lines from your sources homepage...

"NORAD, charged with keeping American skies safe, didn't show up on September 11, leaving the remote controlled jets to do their work. Coincidentally, NORAD is one of the world's experts on remote controlled aircraft. NORAD had the means, and provided the opportunity, for making 9-11 happen."

"What does the establishment of a world-wide Jewish theocracy have to do with the events of 9-11? Everything. If the Jews who rule America have their way, freedom of religion will soon be a thing of the past, and rabbinical courts will rule the world."

"What does the establishment of a world-wide Jewish theocracy have to do with the events of 9-11? Everything. If the Jews who rule America have their way, freedom of religion will soon be a thing of the past, and rabbinical courts will rule the world."

"Osama met with the CIA in July. Sure. If he did, why are they telling us about it? Answer: Because they want us to know. Question: Why would they want us to "know"? Answer: Because it serves their purposes."

"Zionist Christians are traitors to America. Along with Jews, they scream loudest for Arab blood, even though all rational analysis shouts that Israel and Israeli agents in America were responsible for 9-11."

"Free Republic [ http://www.freerepublic.com ], the web-based "conservative" news forum, presents itself as an Internet alternative to the controlled media. But it is actually a holding tank for guppies who are given strictly controlled doses of truth pellets."

Listen up, pencil neck, if you have a single quote from my postings that supports your allegation please post it. Otherwise, shut your pie hole. If you need assistance, I'll volunteer.

Heh. Having seen ya at the Inaugural Ball, I do believe you are capable of doing it, too. :o)
