The whole CT Republican party is full of scumbags, particularly the Waterbury crowd.

You can't get scumbags out of the government. They grow in the government.

Rowland was originally a conservative, but when he "converted" to "pro-choice," he became unreliable and everything has gone downhill for him spiritually in the past few years.

The CT Republicans must be first cousins of the NJ GOP.

Here's the article from the Waterbury paper. It also includes Rowland's statement on the issue.

This can't possibly be right. I'm constantly assured by many posters on this board that we should always support Republicans because they are always better than the alternative.

Never mind Republican Don Sundquist trying to create an income tax and raise total taxes about 15% in Tennessee (while his Democrat successor just cut state budgets 9%). Or Alabama Gov. Bob Riley, who told his citizens that God wanted them to pay more taxes. Or Senator McCain, who was the leading force behind the greatest assault on free speech this country has ever seen. And of course, the guy in the article, who turns out to be just another sordid example of how power corrupts.

No, the party faithful keep telling us that folks like the above are the lessor of two evils, because those Democrats are soul-stealing, tax-raising, big-government-increasing, corrupt devils from Hades. The guys above may be evil, but by golly, they're our evil guys! Fight, fight, fight, go team!

Wake up, folks! Both parties are after our money and our freedom. And it will stay that way until we hold them accountable. And you can't hold anyone accountable with unconditional support.

Rowland was originally a fiscal as well as a social conservative. Compared to Ella Grasso and her heirs, he looks like Barry Goldwater. But he does seem to have gradually been corrupted by his desire to hold on to the governorship. The problem is, he seems to be about as good as Connecticut can produce in a politician.

Rowland is the epitome of corruption. He's a disgrace and should resign. Not even holding my nose will I ever pull the lever for him again.

I never trusted this guy, never. Boy do we grow RINOs in Connecticut, or what?

Thanks for the ping Race. Will you be at the 12/28 party in NYC?

Bill O'Reilly was complaining recently about celebrity performers getting paid for charity gigs. He thought they should just donate their time. For example, he said, when he participated in a charity event in Hawaii, he didn't take any money for it. The charity merely paid for him -- and his family -- to go to Hawaii.

Different rules for different fools.

I don't support Rowland on this but the rats are amazing. This is about Rowlands personal life and he lied to the people just like Clinton. For clinton, we should move on, even though Clinton broke the law. For Rowland he should resign even though he broke no laws.

Tom Scott is awesome. Do you know why he was removed from his radio show? I thought that show was GREAT. He has COMPLETELY dropped from the RADAR screen, I NEVER hear a peep from / about him anymore. He must've REALLY pissed someone of in a high place!

" {Taking 8,550} is apparently legal under a 1997 revision to state ethics rules that allows the governor and other state officials to accept gifts from employees and friends who don't do business with his office. "

Outrageous. They changed the rules so that taking payoffs is extremely easy.

Ex-- I am a genearal contractor. Rowland steers contracts my way. I send two subcontractors (sep corps) to his house and do an $ 8550 job, paying for both labor and materials. Then I just write a check for $8550 to the subs.

There are even easier ways to do it.

The idea of a company giving the governor an $8550 gift for no reason is absurd on its face. And the more important question is: WHAT OTHER CORRUPTION IS HE INVOLVED IN?

The fact that someone of his ideology is a good friend of the Bushes is yet another disappointment this year.

Tom was at odds with Jerry Christopher, the general manager of WELI

He does fill in occasionally, and even blasted Kimber for his lawsuit against us on the air a few months ago.

He is selling real estate, a new father, and is doing well!

He is #4 in line for a default replacement for Sean Hannity! He told me this once!
