SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.

There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.

The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.

Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.

A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.

In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

Wonderful news! This is a good day for America for the Iraqi people and a really bad day for the liberals.

The lib talking points didn't take long to be distributed. All the Juan Williams types on TV are reading from the same page...."now's the time to bring in the international community, blah blah."

Hang tough, Mr. President!

Every Dem I've heard this morning has tried to spin this to try and make it look bad for Bush. What a bunch of idiots.

They bash the effort so much, we no longer think about how this is the most benevolent act of one country towards another in human history.

Instead of celebrating this while pointing out the bumps in the road, rats in govt and media have polarized this nation into a near civil war. It is a disgrace.

We should be ALL celebrating as HUMAN BEINGS, and the DimRats will play divide and conquer all week long.

This constant 'war' perpetrated by rats is having untold consequences on society and leading to general unhappiness and angst.

Dan Rather now LAMENTING the fact that, in the end, Saddam may be a coward for not going down fighting.

I have the feeling that Osama will be next, sooner rather than later. A pretty bad day for the liberals, indeed.

Thank you Juan for pointing out that is really a bad thing.
And here I thought it was good.

With a heavy heart, I must report that DU is starting to really crack up (and for them, that's quite a statement).

One common theme is that the capture was staged: To divert attention from Haliburton, Clark going to testify at The Hague, whatever else.

Another theme is trying to convince themselves that this works in the Dems favor: Saddam's capture is unimportant, will be forgotten soon, another reason to get out of Iraq quickly, where's Osama, etc.

And don't forget: International (UN) trial, that's if Saddam isn't killed first (by W of course)

There is a slight undercurrent of jumping of the Dean band-wagon. Some have finally realized that an anti-war candidate will get trounced.

As strange as it may sound, the most sensible thing that I've seen over there was written by the admin guy. It almost made sense.

Even the Unibomber had the humanity to live in a nice little cabin in Montana.

Saddam was living underground, in dirt.

Just thought of something...

One of the first things we ought to be asking SH is what exactly happened to Michael Scott Speicher (sic?). I'm sure the family would give anything for that peace of mind.

All the Juan Williams types on TV are reading from the same page...."now's the time to bring in the international community, blah blah."

The "international community" (which apparently means "France, Germany, and the UN" and does not include Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Australia, Great Britain, et al.) has made it clear that until the US makes it perfectly safe for their soft heinies, they won't have anything to do with Iraq.

Saddam looked like an older, Arab version of Charles Manson when they pulled him out of that hole.

I think Bush should get on TV ASAP and say, "The international community can kiss my big, fat, hairy butt. If we'd done what you all wanted us to do, Saddam would still be in power, killing his own people and training 9-11 type terrorists."

Gregory got his WH correspondent job as a direct result of his wealthy liberal media family lobbying for it. Also explains how a fairly ugly and marginally intelligent guy got that prime position.

I read that most of the TV network reporters come from wealthy, liberal families, IVY league schools, etc.

Not sure if it's true.

What's this about Clark and The Hague?
