Kerry Gaining Ground (Bush 45%, Kerry 42%)

January 27, 2004--Senator John Kerry has pulled to within three points of George W. Bush in the Rasmussen Reports national tracking poll. Yesterday, Kerry trailed by five points.

Kerry is the most competitive of all Democrats in a general election match-up with the President. He is also the top choice among all Democrats to win the party's Presidential nomination.

Senator John Edwards trails the President by just five points, 45% to 40%.

Before the Iowa caucuses, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean and retired General Wesley Clark were the most competitive Democrats. Both now trail Bush by double digit margins.

Survey results show that a generic Democrat polls better than any individual candidate at this point in time.

These results are from a national telephone survey of 1,500 Likely Voters conducted by Rasmussen Reports over the past three nights. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points, with a 95% level of confidence.

I don't think this country can survive a Kerry. I think it can survive any of the others(albeit tough), but Kerry will get me wishing for the days of Bill Klinton.

My hubby's 15mos in Iraq will have been for nothing....he will retire and protect the homefront...everybody else is on there own....it will be a field-day for the terrorist in the US.

Very early yet. Bush should be taking advantage of "free" advertising. When the President does something, he gets publicity. Just keep putting out initiatives and using that to keep things in focus among the sheeple. Use those opportunities to "look presidential", and keep "working for the American People". Clinton was a master at this.

It bears remembering that Dukakis was 20 points or so ahead of Bush I going into the summer of the '88 election. Things can change quickly, and the 'Pubs will have to make their post-convention bounce have legs this time.

It's still too early to take aim at Kerry/Edwards. Our team would risk shifting the playing field and wasting time, money, energy and the high ground shooting blanks.

Let the Dimms choose their losers...and then we'll fight to the finish.

I agree it is hard to believe that 42% of the people know Kerry let alone vote for him or anybody.
What counts are the people that vote every time and they don't change their mind.

I'm not sure CFR is Rove's brainchild and I think the 'viva la Mexicana' plan is going just as planned.

they would be positive ads, like the reagan "morning in america" ads. they don't even have to mention the Dem candidate names, just so long as they run in the same markets as the Dem primaries to provide some counterbalance.

Much as we don't want to believe it, the vast majority of the country couldn't give a crap right now what all these dodoes are saying.

That's not to say there aren't things to be done to counter Dim lies. That's a never ending ongoing daily task.
