Our Mission by Jedediah Jones

The political left controls most media venues and institutions of learning and through them manipulates public opinion to launch a ruthless assault on the traditions, values, and integrity of the United States of America. These so-called “liberals” regulate inquiry, suppress free speech, endorse big government, and promote socialist and communist ideologies in their quest to fulfill false promises of unachievable collectivist utopias, to usurp power from individuals and place it in the hands of the State. In their ongoing effort to brainwash Americans through overt and hidden biases and historic domination of communicative outlets, these Marxist-Leninist Democrats have claimed sole proprietorship of the intellectual terrain of our nation. Through a carefully regulated network of thought police, left-wing ideologues resort to disenfranchising every American citizen, denying each of us the right to embrace, celebrate, and advance our cultural and political heritage. The goals of the left are disgusting, and their methods are dishonest. The rank hypocrisy of “political correctness” and the one-sided attack on America that it represents are gross, hateful, and morally repulsive.

Roger Williams University College Republicans proclaims as its mission to expose political injustices perpetrated by the left, to defend ourselves vigorously against the shameful agenda and tactics of liberals, and to unsettle, disrupt, disarm, castigate, and ridicule those who practice or preach collectivist ideologies, in order that we may reclaim discursive space and advance a consistent conservative message with energy and enthusiasm. Previously silenced by dominant tides of putrid socialism and vile communism put forth by the so-called intellectual “elite”, we as Republicans in a community of learners pledge to protect and support the Constitution of the United States of America, to abide by its stated principles, to educate our peers on matters of cultural history and political traditions, to propound and spread conservative views in print, on the air, in classes, at rallies, and elsewhere when practicable, to remind our audience what is at stake if the damaging forces of liberalism move forward unchecked, to recognize instances of the political war in which we are engaged, and to initiate activism designed to conquer the enemy by frequent aggressive promotions of our values. Our goal is to capture as large an audience as we can in these efforts, while transmitting genuine knowledge and encouraging others to join us in our fight to preserve the core principles and beliefs on which our country was founded. No longer content to maintain a defensive posture, we now take the offensive as demonstrated by weekly meetings, outreach programs, special events, and other key expressions of our determination and strength. We serve as a watchdog organization to ensure that the University acts in accord with its mission statement, to enhance students’ intellectual growth by offering politically balanced views. We will instigate ideological uprisings without apology if attempts are made to suppress us.

Our members are dedicated, and are mission is purposeful and serious. We cherish the ideals put forth by the nation’s Founding Fathers: the ideals of life, liberty, property, freedom, independence, and individualism; the right to pursue personal happiness with a minimum of impediments. We exist as an organization to proclaim loud support for these God-given unalienable rights and to honor and protect them by any means necessary, at any time, whenever a need arises.

Best of luck to you/wish I had this kind of support at my college. Fully agreed. I can remember my last year in school working for Bush's campaign in 2000, with my school being liberal bastion in a conservative state, and how frustrating it was to fight that every day. Slowly the dynamic is changing for the better. The ivory tower of the Professors is getting rocked by the more conservative students below it. I love it. Keep fighting the good fight.

Thanks so much!

We plan on giving them much more than hell, starting with a serious reality check.

we as Republicans in a community of learners pledge to protect and support the Constitution of the United States of America, to abide by its stated principles
When I had just posted a position paper on the relationship of broadcasting to the First Amendment, someone posted that DU had criticized it as being subversive of the First Amendment.

On reflection, I noted that socialists favor "the Constitution" and "the First Amendment"--not the document as written and understood when adopted, but as a blank slate on which the socialists presume to write at their own pleasure. The "First Amendment" which has a one-way "wall of seperation between church and state." A wall which does not defend the moral traditions of the people, but rather protects the government (if run by socialists, of course) from moral judgement.

Not at all what one would derive from the use of the expression by Jefferson in a cordial reply to a cordial letter from a Baptist convention. One should not marvel at the latter; freedom from government sponsored churches and freedom of religious practice are principles naturally congenial to Christians who view the world through the eyes of the authors of the New Testament--writings from the time when Christianity had never been the Establishment anywhere.

Tell it like it is. There is no Socialism without Marx, and there is no Democrat who rejects Socialism.
