[history]
Among those who apparently didn't listen to the 43-year-old unemployed woman whose recorded message was posted online last week by The Republic were Arizona's Jon Kyl and John McCain, along with 24 of their Senate colleagues, all of them collecting fat government paychecks.

Jerk?
The guy is whining about the economy, that he's been unemployed since 2001, but he turned down job offers.
Screw the internet access...how does he afford a phone line?
Or is that free too, jerk?
How does an individual stay unemployed 30 months and turn down "offers"?

Bush should sign that bill as fast as possible. Yes he should if he wants to get re-elected and stop the bad reports about the "jobless recovery" showing very awful stats on job creation.

They don't, they are the pampered sons of the wealthy elites and it's all a game to them. This will be the first election since 1968 that I will not vote in. You can't let the pampered sons of the wealthy elites affect your voting decisions --- they're actually harmful to their candidate with their arrogance --- but there are two choices in this election --- vote third party -- something like the Constitution Party --- or think about what happens if a democrat wins --- Kerry for example --- the economy is bad but it went bad under Clinton ---- the democrats believe in outsourcing every bit as much as the republicans.

That "buggy whips" argument is a canard. Can someone please tell me how being a doctor of radiology or a Cold Fusion programmer is obsolete? Fact is that its not.

"This class warfare nonsense grates my nerves."
What does "outsourcing" have to do with class warfare? The ignorance and political blindness of the Rovians will cost this President his re-election. That is the primary point.
Of course it will cost our nation it's economic future also, but who cares about that.
Party on dude.

Yes he should if he wants to get re-elected and stop the bad reports about the "jobless recovery" showing very awful stats on job creation. So how many jobs should Bush "create" to get the unemployment figure down to your liking

middle-aged women are being laid off right and left; many of them go to live with their aging parents & end up taking care of them. How can people who are out of work move in with their aging parents, and take care of them? By eating out of garbage cans? Rob banks?
A lot of husbands are staying home while their wives work. As was previously mentioned, many college grads or even young people in their late 20s are moving back in with their parents.
So these 8.2 million people in the work force who've can't find work and have dropped off the unemployment roles have all moved back in with their parents or are letting their wives support them.
Wow. We must have a pretty prosperous society if 8.2 million workers can lose all their income and just be absorbed and become invisible to the unemployment stats by becoming dependants on by relatives who are making enough money to support them.

I think creating over 600,000 to 700,000 government or government related jobs in the last 3 years is plenty. Now maybe we can get W to create some private sector jobs for non-Mexican legal American citizens by getting this beast of a government off the entreprenuer's backs.

how much more money does it cost parents to take one of their children back under their roof? not much. the "aging" parents are actually doing quite well financially in many cases.

"She tells me they are almost overwhelmed with requests for help."My father-in-law is active with St. Vincent duPaul through the local catholic church. He says they can't keep up. Not only is the native population hurting, they are now overrun by illegal aliens. The situation he finds very frustrating is that while they don't turn anyone away, he feels the resource was set up to help the community. He said some people drive a considerable way for assistance only to be beaten there by the illegals.

Well thank you ... my wife keeps us fed and pays the phone and the power but can't afford to pay the mortgage. I am a 25 year computer chip design engineer with an advanced degree ... I can't get a job. I was laid off by Motorola when they moved the entire plant to Bejing, in Jan 2002 and was out work until Nov 2002. I worked for another company until the entire dept was shipped to Singapore in Aug of 2003. I've seen you post before hence the impulsive
ad hominid. You will forgive me that I had saved enough in my many years of hard work to save enough to keep us a float till now and that I keep a phone line and an internet connection so that I might try to find a job.
