"The fact that we're using taxpayers' money to ship somebody's job overseas, I don't think that's a good thing."

The day that I thought I would ever agree with Dodd about anything has arrived. I can not believe that the American people will buy his tripe as he has profited from the outsourcing craze.

of course, that is an exaggeration.

but do not discount this phenomena, its real, its affecting what is primarily a republican demographic (private sector middle class), and it may well bring an angry mob of voters to the polls, as Bush has not handled this well and is not showing he is at all connected to the people described in this article.

How many american have starved to death since 9/11?

Probably more than civilian Americans in America?

"... as Bush has not handled this well and is not showing he is at all connected to the people described in this article."

Michael Savage pointed this out three months ago. Bush's handlers have never been in touch with the middle class and now are gambling that this issue is not important.

I think this is the hottest third rail now. The Social Security problem will not matter if household income declines along with increases in bankruptcies and foreclosures by the middle class.

The IT manager in the article? A good friend of mine.

I am telling you that she is going hungry so her kids can eat.

"Bush should sign that bill as fast as possible."

It's just window dressing. There are more concrete efforts that could be executed, but the destruction of the IRS and revision of the tax code will never occur.

I meant to say "More people have probably starved to death in America than civilians killed in terrorist activities since 9/11." Meaning that to this person to this person terrorism doesn't even enter his realm of thinking.

Oh why, oh why didn't President McKinley outlaw automobiles so that buggywhip makers and blacksmiths would not lose their jobs?

Democrats plan to use America's fear of outsourcing as a strategy to get voters to reject President Bush in November. And because the opposition is playing up the problem, Republicans must play it down. But as one man who wrote to me said, "It is not about the left or the right, but about the middle."

The middle class is squeezed by uncontrolled legal and illegal immigration on one side, and offshoring/outsourcing on the other. Throw in the harsh environment after 9/11, and yes, this is a serious issue that Washington had better start paying attention to. Pissed off people don't usually vote for incumbents.

False analogy. The outsourcing issue is not about replacing an obsolete technology with a better one. It is about replacing American labor with foreign labor. Why do people adopt facile arguments with no moral compunction?
