[history]
Among those who apparently didn't listen to the 43-year-old unemployed woman whose recorded message was posted online last week by The Republic were Arizona's Jon Kyl and John McCain, along with 24 of their Senate colleagues, all of them collecting fat government paychecks.

losing a job to automation is not the same as physically transferring the same job to a worker overseas. even china is losing manufacturing jobs to automation.

you will have no trouble hiring 400 SW engineers, if the HR people are honestly trying to hire domestically.

Go to any economic thread and you'll find that they are choc-full of class warfare rhetoric. I guess that self reliance free market thing doesn't work here anymore. I guess we were all duped into believing such nonsense...

He should create as many as his official office projections have touted and predicted - which is about 125,000 a month. And they have to be in America, not overseas. I believe the last 2 months only 21,000 and 6,000 have been created (net). Otherwise, every democrat and liberal in the media is going to beat him up about it like they are now and the middle class that voted for him 2000 will be getting drunk in bar on election day in November.
Now we both know that president's don't create jobs, but he has to affect policy enough to keep jobs overhear, otherwise gay marraige Kerry is going to win.

Actually I'm thinking of boycotting Walmart.
They have a personal vendetta against me. I keep reading about how all they sell is really cheap stuff made by slaves in China. But every time I go into Walmart I find the exact same products that I see at Target, Fred Myers, K-Mart...heck, even the military exchanges.
Sometimes the prices at Walmart are cheaper, sometimes they're not? Why does Walmart keep swapping out merchandise whenever I come into the store?

well if that were true, everyone would still be farmers.
an XRAY technician who loses their job in NY because those XRAYS are now being read by someone in India, has not lost their job to automation. If a computer were reading that XRAY automatically now, that would be a different story.

But American companies are avoiding the laws of supply and demand by cheating the market they enjoy - a safe superpower, tax breaks, etc. They do have too much regulation.
I went through this on another post on this thread and I think I have already argued this one to death with you before.
But if you believe that borders and national laws don't apply, why should there be a Texas?

"IT" ... what's that - a support department, an "expense"?
Oh right ... those people - the kid who runs around setting up PC's, swapping out failed monitors - that "IT"?
OR is this the "New IT" -
- the call center folks,
- the customer support 'reps' -
another expense or service part of the business operation?
Yes, a service part if the operation - they don't actually produce anything, but turn out to be necessary when selling to the general public ...
