Among those who apparently didn't listen to the 43-year-old unemployed woman whose recorded message was posted online last week by The Republic were Arizona's Jon Kyl and John McCain, along with 24 of their Senate colleagues, all of them collecting fat government paychecks.

An engineer from Orlando whose job at the Kennedy Space Center was sent offshore summed it up this way: "I am not remotely concerned about terrorism. I am not even mildly worried about gay marriages. I am in danger of starving to death."

Did ya get that GW? Here is one of those "isolationists" you were talking about in your recent speech.

Who do you think hes voting for in the fall???

"Who do you think hes voting for in the fall???"

Probably the democratic nominee just like he did the last time.

I did apologize for jumping on your case, I've seen a lot of nasty stuff on this thread.

I'd say a call center is more like an operator type job. People call in, the person answers, reads off script and if that doesn't work, types up ticket for level 2.

There's 'IT centers' which take calls but also do a majority of the actual technical fixing stuff on that first call. It's quite a difference.

even china is losing manufacturing jobs to automation and technology. its the same reason why only a fraction of americans work on farms, but produce far greater quantities of food.

Isn't that the point I have been making? Even China's IT technology sector is putting blue collar Chinese out of jobs.

so that leaves the executive suite, legal and intellectual property, and sales and marketing. everyone else is viewed as a "cost".

You are over-broadening your 'scope' on this in an attempt to somehow secure a winning argument that all levels/positions within an organization are simple 'costs' and therefore 'replaceable' -

- palatable, I suppose, as rationale, only on theoretical grounds but approaching looniness when you consider those are basis upon which you build product/make money in the first place ...

What job is not viable after being out of work for thirty months, and living off your wife's earnings?

You're living proof of that "jobs American won't do" situation that Bush talks about all the time.

It is obvious that these folks can't come to grips with what businesses are in business for.

People vote based on their pocketbook. Please recall that Ronald Reagan used the question "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" to win an election. We face a real risk that the Rats will pose precisely that question this time, and the consequences may be distressing.

The free trade claque can prattle endlessly about the benefits of shipping American jobs to China - but they forget that those out of work Americans vote. It is time to end the free trade nonsense and put Americans back to work, lest the many gains we've made all get lost.

Ok, we end free trade. Now America is all by itself and we just service our domestic market. Is 20% unemployment alright with you?

The buggywhip makers and blacksmiths were put out of work because of superior technology, the automobile. The US government sure as he** didn't encourage companies back then to send their jobs overseas, and you know it.

They left their old jobs and moved into the auto assembly and parts plants by the millions where they made a lot more money and had better benefits and became middle class Americans.

Now the middle class jobs are disappearing to Red China and India and IF they are being replaced its by low-wage, no benefits McJobs that will drive people from the middle class to the poverty level, working poor.

I get real tired of hearing this free trade propaganda BS...

Oh, yeah?

I've voted Republican all my life, but this year I'm voting to outsource GW's job.

He and his party think its so great to kill our middle class jobs, lets see how the GOP likes being out of power for the next four years!

Believe it. I've been saying this for almost a year now: Bush is going to lose over outsourcing if he is going to lose at all.

What is most amusing about this: What makes businesses in the US uncompetitive is the burden the state, federal, county, and cities are putting on them to stay in business.

Rather than admitting they were wrong, these idiots allow US companies to build plants overseas, where they don't have any such tax or regulatory burden.

This is the best part though - let's say some Sunni with a kilo of plutonium wires it up and blows your plant into small particles of radioactive dust: Guess what? It's all insured by the USA government. Uncle Sam will build IBM a brand new call center in Bangalore at no charge to them.

And you paid for it.

"I am in danger of starving to death."

He's no isolationist, he's a damned drama queen.

And a Democrat to boot.
