A man who fell on an escalator at a Florida airport after drinking on a flight has filed suit against US Airways for not having warned him of the dangers of in-flight alcohol consumption, local media reported.

Floyd Schuler, 61, filed suit in Fort Myers, Florida, seeking damages of at least 15,000 dollars, the Naples Daily News reported.

"US Airways failed to warn (Schuler) and its other passengers of the increased effect that consumption of alcoholic beverages has on airline passengers who consume alcoholic beverages while in flight and while flying at night," according to the lawsuit.

A spokeswoman for the airline, Amy Kudwa, declined comment on the case.

In cases like this, I am in favor of spanking the plaintiff with a manhole cover shaped like the state seal, while yelling, "DON'T...YOU...EVER...FILE...ANOTHER...FRIVOLOUS...LAWSUIT...IN...THIS...COURT...AGAIN, EVER....EVER!"

"US Airways failed to warn (Schuler) and its other passengers of the increased effect that consumption of alcoholic beverages has on airline passengers who consume alcoholic beverages while in flight and while flying at night,"

Ok, I understand that at altitude, the air has less oxygen, so the alcohol effect is more pronounced. However, once you land, your body gets more oxygen, so that affect 'should' be countered as soon as the passenger steps off the aircraft. But what the heck does flying at night have to do with anything?

I guess Floyd would agree with this old axiom: "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy." Our thanks to Dorothy Parker, and all high-flying wack jobs! Good luck, Floyd, catch you on the flipside! Geesh!

Gee, how long do you think this bozo had to search to find a hungry lawyer willing to take the case?

Two minutes? Or was he approached by some shyster as he was in the hospital who figured the legal angle and sold it to him.

Hey, the lawyer is gonna get paid even if he doesn't win, so what does he care of the suit flies like a toolbox?

Geez...

At night, pilots are reccommended to have supplemental oxygen above 5000 feet, because of the effects of hypoxia even at that low altitude on night vision. Airline cabins are pressurized at 8000 feet.

Many years ago when the 747 first came out there was a bar type lounge up stairs. I remember flying into JFK and a guy sitting in the lounge chug a lugged a bottle of booze, stood up, and passed out on the floor. The attendants called for help when they landed and the guy was carried off the plane, still out.

This is how really stupid warning labels are born. For example, I was really bored on an airplane the other day so I decided to read the nuts wrapper. It said, "Instructions: Open package. Eat nuts." I'm not kidding.

As a result of this guy's lawsuit, USAirways (and all other airlines that operate in the US) will have to put up a big sign that says, "Drinking on an airplane can cause you to become intoxicated more quickly", or some such thing. Duh.

How about just outlawing drinking on the airlines (for the children of course). You can bet that's where this ridiculous thing is heading.

He could just as easily say that no one warned him falling down an escalator could be painful. Duh.

Ten bucks says this moron wouldn't have thought twice about hopping into his car and driving home.

I wonder what his BAC was, exactly.

The environmentalists should get after the lawyers for wasting paper.

Every instruction book in America now has several pages of safety warnings, before you get to the actual instructions. Many trees were cut down to print this useless junk.

"Warning: Never run a lawnmower over your foot."

"Warning: Never take a toaster into the bathtub with you."

Maybe because it is dark and passengers who consume alcoholic beverages and are not aware (too stupid to realize) that they will become drunk if they consume alcoholic beverages in flight and who take off in the daylight think they should be in daylight when they land and then. . . and then. . . their balance and equilibrium and everything and their cones and rods in their eyes and everything are messed up (because of the flight) and they fall down!

The people who do not realize you can become intoxicated when drinking alcoholic beverages (in the dark on a plane) are apparently the same type of dumba**es who did not realize smoking caused cancer until they got cancer.
