TERRI SCHINDLER-SCHIAVO DAILY THREADAPRIL 19, 2004 FORWARD
April 19, 2004 | floriduh voter

Posted on 04/19/2004 2:05:56 PM PDT by floriduh voter

Persistent and Loyal Friends of Terri and of the U.S. Constitution,

I'm home from today's hearing which was held at the Criminal Courthouse Complex on 49th Street, Clearwater before Judge W. Douglas Baird.

Once I collect my thoughts from today's hearing which just adjourned about a half an hour ago, I'll post them here. Initially, I wasn't going to do any reporting re: the hearing but it was enlightening.

I learned today in the hallway that Terri's parents, siblings and other relatives are still unable to see her some three weeks later due to the criminal investigation of what may have been mosquito bites. But, that's a different legal matter.

GWB and GOP Man saw Terri on Fox News Channel last night on a tv set at a major bookstore in Georgia. Further, a major church in northern Georgia who televises talked about Terri in their sermon. I think Terri news is working it's way across the Fla-Ga border. Maybe if need be, we should all join Georgia newspaper forums and start doing threads about Terri.

It does absolltely no good to write to the St. Pete Times as they won't print any letters to ed about Terri but they are wasting space every day writing about JIM KING. He must know the Times editors to get the kind of coverage he's getting way down here.

It might be educational to see a chart contrasting Michael's testimony BEFORE the Jury award, vs his ACTIONS after the Jury award...

Michael in Nov.1992 UNDER OATH, shortly BEFORE the JURY award:
                  Here I'm brushing her teeth.

17 Q. Do you take her to the dentist from time-to-time?

18 A. Yes, we do.

19 Q. How often do you do that?

20 A. We try to do it twice a year. As a matter of

21 fact, she has an appointment Monday.

22 We try to keep her teeth as clean as possible. It's

23 very hard for us to get into the back of her mouth. She

24 clamps down and bites down on the toothbrush. I've had

25 problems before using the suction catheter and she bit the

___
                                                              20

 1 suction catheter there.

2 Q. What are you doing now?

3 A. I'm putting on makeup. I put on her makeup

4 everyday and I'm finishing up her lipstick.

5 This is the speech pathologist who comes in and works

 6 with Terry.

7 Q. This is the speech pathologist you say?

 8 A. Yes, it's the speech pathologist.

9 Q. What does he do for her?

10 A. He comes in and massages her lips and uses

11 different flavors to try to help her swallow. You'll

12 notice he's moving her lips and it helps massage the side

13 of the mouth so the mouth doesn't tighten up.

14 Q. You hoping he can get her to the point where she

15 swallows?

16 A. Yes. You see here rubbing the bottom of her

17 throat, that's, I don't know what the word is, gets them to

18 swallow when you rub the bottom of their throat. She just

19 swallowed that time. Sometimes they use ice on her face,

20 too. It's a stimulation.

21 Q. What is that, Mike?

22 A. That's a -- that is basically used to stimulate

23 her tongue and the back of her tongue to help with her gag

24 reflex. And like I said, sometimes they use different

25 flavors.

If the other side = the evil doers, "yes".

I've seen Felos in person. I don't think he has a soul - he's just a piggy bank in diguise.

Yes, other side = evil doers.

I haven't seen him in person, but on TV he has the same dead, 'nobody's home' eyes that those of his ilk usually have.

In reading through the "recall" statutes (to which you linked in your post), I noted the following language:

"Any member of the governing body of a municipality or charter county, hereinafter referred to in this section as "municipality," may be removed from office by the electors of the municipality. When the official represents a district and is elected only by electors residing in that district, only electors from that district are eligible to sign the petition to recall that official and are entitled to vote in the recall election."

"In a municipality or district of 25,000 or more registered electors, the petition shall be signed by at least 1,000 electors or by 5 percent of the total number of registered electors of the municipality or district as of the preceding municipal election, whichever is greater."

"The supervisor shall be paid by the persons or committee seeking verification the sum of 10 cents for each name checked."

"OFFENSES RELATING TO PETITIONS.--No person shall impersonate another, purposely write his or her name or residence falsely in the signing of any petition for recall or forge any name thereto, or sign any paper with knowledge that he or she is not a qualified elector of the municipality...Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree and shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided by law."

Okay. Jim King represents Florida Senate District 8, which has, according to the stats on file with the state, 246,725 registered voters (that's a 2000 figure, I don't know what the number is now), and it looks like, according to the statute, only registered voters in District 8 would be allowed to sign a petition for recall. 5% of 246,725 is 12,336 verified signatures required on the recall petition, and verification (required) of 12,336 signatures at 10 cents each will cost $1,200+.

Doable? Sure...anything is "doable." But is it truly realistic that we could collect the signatures of 12,336+ registered Florida Senate District 8 voters (not the signatures of sincerely concerned citizens from whereever) on a recall petition?

#73: PROJECT ANNOYING EMPATHY FOR TERRI SCHIAVO ^

Hi Harry. Sorry I didn't answer earlier. That other thread had a meltdown due to a disruptor. I got him extremely p.o'ed at me, and he got my posting deleted. I thought I had to stay away from that one or he would come back.

Thank you for sharing your own experience. That seems a really tough thing to get over or live with. I thank you, and I'm sure Terri's family thanks you.

I thought Greer was up for reelection this year? Aren't we more likely to defeat him at the polls than to get the necessary signatures for recall (assuming that "recall" applies to judges; I think they fall under "impeachment" rather than "recall," but I'm not sure).

Is Greer running unopposed, or has another candidate declared?

If Greer is unopposed, we will be stuck with him for another term. We already have signatures for a recall petition. He's filed to run again and that's all I have at this time.

WE HAVE A NINE FOOT BY FOUR FOOT SIGN THAT SAYS "Recall Judge Greer" from October, 2003. I'll scan it in and put it on this thread. The huge sign was featured on local television and probably worldwide. The sign's being kept in a safe place. It's very heavy - out of wood composite.

IT BECAME AN ATTRACTION at the Vigils. The Vigils had a sideshow feel to them while at the same time some days were very solemn. PEOPLE KEPT COMING by the hundreds. They wanted their pictures taken by the RECALL JUDGE GREER sign.

SORRY IF DUPLICATE. Wanted to get this on the Daily.

Terri Schiavo's Parents Sue to Restore Visitation Rights Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com)

-- After Terri Schiavo was found with so-called puncture marks on her arms, in what her family is calling a setup, Terri's estranged husband Michael has refused to allow her parents and family to visit her. As a result, Bob and Mary Schindler haven't seen their daughter in nearly a month.

The Schindlers filed a lawsuit Monday with the Florida Circuit Court in Clearwater saying that Michael has continually been late in filing the required annual health care plans for Terri. As such, he should have no right to prevent Terri's family from spending time with her. "I'm asking the judge to have a hearing and determine that Michael has been acting without authority and to restore visitation," Pat Anderson, the Schindlers' attorney, said.

Since 1990, the lawsuit says, Michael has never received approval for a care plan on a prospective basis. Michael last obtained approval for a care plan in May 2002 for a plan for the year ending June 2001. Michal has not filed a care plan since then. http://www.lifenews.com/bio277.html

A Pinellas-Pasco Judge by the name of Rehnke is being investigated for suspension by the Judicial Qualifications Committee. I don't know if this judge is county civil or circuit civil. The offenses listed in the sptimes.com didn't seem all that much imo. It proves that if they want to get rid of someone, the JQC has the power to do so. Judge Rehnke has retained counsel.

But, Judge Greer has committed legal malpractice and has committed criminal offenses imo but that's okay because it's case related, not SIMPLE MISCONDUCT.

Please help keep this Daily Thread pinged and bumped by hyperlinking other Terri threads back to her

I am expecting to place more recent news here and maybe some Petition information for Floridians. Thanks, floriduh voter (my glasses broke and I've no lens on the left.)

From floriduh voter -- this further info:
JUDGE JOHN RENKE III AGREED HE MISLED VOTERS (GOP)

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A Pasco-Pinellas Circuit judge faces suspension and a fine for misrepresenting his experience during his 2002 campaign.

The Judicial Qualifications Commission said Judge John Renke III should be suspended from the bench for one month, fined $20,000 and publicly reprimanded for misleading voters. The Florida Supreme Court will review the sanctions.

Renke testified in Miami before a panel of the commission, which investigates members of the bench, and agreed that he broke campaign rules for bench races, according to documents released Thursday.

During his campaign, Renke overstated his own experience as an attorney and understated that of his opponent, Declan Mansfield, the commission said. Also, the Republican Party of Pasco County endorsed Renke with his knowledge and consent, the commission found. Judicial campaigns are supposed to be nonpartisan.

"Judge Renke accepts full responsibility (for the rules violations), admits it should not have occurred and regrets and apologizes for such conduct," according to the commission.

This was from the Miami Herald, April 30, 2004

Thanks for posting. Is it any surprise that a GOP Judge misled voters? I wonder if he's a Greer buddy or not. This may be a smear campaign to oust a good guy or maybe he's a bad judge like the rest of them.

I love a good smear campaign, especially if it's about the Sixth Circuit of Pinellas - Pasco County, Florida. Too bad it's all true.
