Expedition Will Seek to Find Noah's Ark

An expedition is being planned for this summer to the upper reaches of Turkey's Mount Ararat (search) where organizers hope to prove an object nestled amid the snow and ice is Noah's Ark (search).

A joint U.S.-Turkish team of 10 explorers plans to make the arduous trek up Turkey's tallest mountain, at 17,820 feet, from July 15 to August 15, subject to the approval of the Turkish government, said Daniel P. McGivern, president of Shamrock_The Trinity Corporation of Honolulu, Hawaii.

The goal: to enter what they believe to be a mammoth structure some 45 feet high, 75 feet wide and up to 450 feet long that was exposed in part by last summer's heat wave in Europe.

"We are not excavating it. We are not taking any artifacts. We're going to photograph it and, God willing, you're all going to see it," McGivern said.

Explorers have long searched for an ark on the high slopes of Mount Ararat, where the biblical account of the Great Flood places it.

Geologists say even though there is evidence of a flood in Mesopotamia in Sumerian times, it is not possible for a ship to make landfall at an altitude as high as Mount Ararat..

Its funny how scientists always have a reason why the Bible is wrong. So my question for them is: if it is an ark, how did it get there? Probably they will tell us aliens from outer space did it, its far more palatable to them then God.

Gee if they do find it and it's verifiable the next great fear among the Torah/Biblophobes must be that the Ark of the Covenant is found and given to Israel.

They will just say that its a hoax, or someone built it there because of some cult religion, I have no idea. Scientists can be kinda crazy sometimes.

If this is indeed Noah's Ark, what else will people come up with to deny the obvious?

Every time there is one of these expositions, something always happens that keeps the exposition from being completed. They film a show, have us watch through the whole thing and tell us nothing.

Maybe not, they didn't mention taking Geraldo with them, so there's hope.

Err, more like the hucksters and fraudmeisters that make these ark expeditions on Ararat (and fleece investors and donors out of money) are kinda crazy sometimes. EVERYTHING they've supposedly found has been an absolute joke, perfectly normal geological formations, etc.

This is VERY good. You have competing theories making competing predictions that are unambiguous.

I already believe there was an ark....my faith demands no proof.

However, what if we were finally able to figure out why Australian animals are so freakin' weird???!!!

Here we go again. This isn't the first time that an April Fool joke caught a few latecomers to the party.

The Germans did it again in 1933.

"fool me once, shame on you - fool me... you can't get fooled again."

No. It will be: " Bush did it to get votes. "

( Hey, it makes about as much sense as the rest of the crap blamed on Bush )

I remember when they first discovered the Titanic the finders said they wouldnt take any artifacts, Guess what they looted it. If this is the Ark it too will be looted, Expect to find a sliver of wood enclosed in a piece of plastic and selling for $20 bucks in your local Walmart.

I have been searching for an hour for any information on
McGivern
Shamrock
The Trinity Corporation

in an attempt to validate any additional information.

I can't find a thing?? Is this a complete farce?

There are a bunch of news stories on news.google all from today and mostly just copies of the AP source.

Anyone know anything else?

I'm not holding my breath on that scenario playing out.
