BAGHDAD, Iraq - A U.S. helicopter fired on a wedding party before dawn Wednesday in western Iraq (news - web sites), killing more than 40 people, Iraqi officials said. The U.S. military said it could not confirm the report and was investigating.
Lt. Col Ziyad al-Jbouri, deputy police chief of Ramadi, said between 42 and 45 people were killed in the attack, which took place about 2:45 a.m. in a remote desert area near the border with Syria and Jordan. He said the dead included 15 children and 10 women.
Dr. Salah al-Ani, who works at a hospital in Ramadi, put the death toll at 45.
Associated Press Television News obtained videotape showing a truck containing bodies of people who were allegedly killed in the incident. Most of the bodies were wrapped in blankets and other cloths, but the footage showed at least eight uncovered, bloody bodies, several of them children. One of the children was headless.

Just watched the movie "Osama" this weekend. In one scene the women are together in a house celebrating a wedding and the Taliban barge in and the women throw on their burkas and begin to weep. The single man in the house then explains to the Taliban that they are greiving his mother who recently past away. When the Taliban leaves they resume the celebration. My point is deception is a way of life in that region, and the movie is tremendous.
In most of the articles they admit firing weapons into the air, it's a tradition.
Regardless of how this turns out, I'm glad to see we're aggressively patrolling the borders with Syria and Jordan. I hope it doesn't stop.

Sounds like a great victory and the kill ratio couldn't be better. More and greater victories like this and peace will finally come to Iraq.
I might be a tragic incident, but as I indicated in post 1, it could very well be an enemy psy ops.

But most times when accidents happen .. the reports aren't based on a video that was rec'd from who knows who .. normally reporters rush to the scene

Taking into account the mandatory briefings on local customs our people get, the sophisticated level of sensory equipment in our helicopters and the time of day this occurred:
1.These were armed insurgents
2.They purposely fired on us
