SO MUCH FOR TACO BELL

SO MUCH FOR TACO BELL

I vote with my dollars. I don't shop at Wal-Mart because I don't appreciate Wal-Mart's disdain for the private property rights of American citizens. Now I'm adding Taco Bell to the list. No ... I'm not asking you to do the same. I'm just telling you what I'm going to do.

Taco Bell, you see, is asking customers for cute little sayings, "words of wisdom" they call it, to be printed on their little packets of hot sauce. Taco bell put out a little press release announcing the search for these "words of wisdom" and stating that the sayings should be simple and "left of center."

Now why would Taco Bell be pandering to the left like this? Could it possibly be because Taco Bell is the target of boycotts and demonstrations on college campuses across the nation? These know-it-all college students have some sort of a beef with the way Taco Bell treats tomato pickers. Well ... what better way to pander to the college know-it-all left wingers than to print little left-wing sayings on your hot sauce packets? And what better way to chase me away.

.... and your little dog too.

Gosh, I better learn to make my own clothes, soap, and food because pretty soon there's not going to be anywhere left to shop.

A thread on this subject is going around right now.

People are being too sensitive and the whole thing is being taken out of context.

Left of center in this case, has nothing to do with politics. All you need to do to figure this out is read the packets.

This is a duplicate story. BTW, when someone says left of center they don't always mean politically.

Some people won't even turn left but make 3 rights instead. It uses a lot of extra gas though.

Doesn't 'left of center' in this context mean sort of oddball or offbeat, like 'out in left field'?

MY response to TacoBell:

Re: your "words of wisdom" campaign. Here's a few more: pandering to one end of the political spectrum, namely those "left of center" tends to piss off those who are "right of center".

And so, I give you MY words of wisdom: Goodbye. I can get better Mexican food elsewhere, from a restaurant that just wants to serve good food, as opposed to one that wants to pander to a specific political group. . .

So . . .

Yo NO quiero Taco Bell, gracias. . . .

I think you're overreacting.
I think the "left-of-center" phrase means "off-center", "wacky", "offbeat", not politically left.

My contribution is "There are NO boogers in your burrito".

Most people interpret the phrase "left of center" politically. In fact, I've never heard it any other way other than to indicate text position on a page. When you read the Taco Bell page, there's nothing to indicate that this is anything other than a gratuitous political slap.

And I was skeptical at first myself, until I went to the page.

I know. We'll be reduced to eating rocks and living in caves if we do it all.

I try to boycott anything French, clothing and toys made in China and I try hard to not buy gas at stations that buy their supply from the Saudis.
