how do I start my own website for free?

Posted on 06/01/2004 10:02:00 AM PDT by f15falcon

I’m sixteen years old and I am trying to start my own conservative website. Lately I’ve been outraged over the liberalism that is constantly blared out on the media and the Internet that is anti American and anti Bush so a friend of mine who is also conservative suggested that we try starting our own website. I don’t have a credit card or a checking account so I decided to try somewhere I could get a free website and free domain ETC. I’ve never done this before so I have been going around the Internet asking for advice. I’m wondering since a lot of you here know HTML and stuff if you could help me find a place where I can set up a free website and maybe explain what I need to do to set up my web page, submit it to a search engine ETC. that sort of thing?

Try a weblog. See Blogger. There are other free services and free hosting providers out there too.

Try a Google search on "free web hosting" or something like that.

Why don't you and your conservative friend just stick around here? At your age--no offense--you're better off learning something from your conservative elders rather than trying to teach something through a new website. You could even start a regular thread just for conservative teens.

Welcome to Free Republic.

Bravenet has some free webpage options, you can also add message boards and so forth. I hope this helps.

oh sorry! I forgot about that thanks.

Where can I get a free domain? Furthermore, how do I get my site submitted on a search engine like Yahoo or Hotbot?

Check with your ISP they might provide free website hosting. Some other sites are free like geocities but you dont have a free domain name. Blogging is also a good alternative.

You really are better off just starting a blog. That would be by far the easiest way to get up and running.

Might I respectfully suggest that, prior to setting up a Conservate website, you work on mastering your grammar and punctuation skills?

While it is important that the Conservate message get out, it is equally important that the message be clear, concise, and intelligent.

A website with punctuation errors, spelling mistakes and run-on sentences (like those found in your posting) will not be taken seriously.

Your heart is in the right place, just make sure that if you decide to do this that you do it correctly.

If you are running Windows, you running an Internet server. It might not be high power, but it will do while you are designing your site. It's free, so there you are until you come up with more constraints.

The word "FREE" does not need the qualifier preposition "for"...........

Having said that, WELCOME! to the real world.

Here's how you start:
1. Stay in school.
2. Get great grades (good is not good enough).
3. Graduate magna cum laude
4. Get a great job.
5. Work hard.
6. Become a zillionaire.
7. You now can start your website "fer free"........

Start a blog. FInd other bloggers like you, make comments on theirs, people will notice your work and you will become part of the conversation too. This will be a great experience for you. Good luck!

You could even start a regular thread just for conservative teens.

I think grellis' idea is perfect. There are special interest forums on this website - perhaps you could start one here before you break off and start your own.

Personally, I find it encouraging to see conservatism in pre-adults. It shows hope for the future. And you will get a lot of encouragement from others here.

Google is your friend.

All your questions can be answered by inputting succint, to-the-point search terms.
