Some Pubbies are just so intent on seeing a black person getting the nomination that they would cheer for Al Sharpton if he crossed over!

I disagree. If the Pubbie Prez becomes a carbon copy of the Democratic nominee, it will make NO difference which party is in power. Mere logic should make this clear to you.

Yes I know; I was responding, not making the suggestion. Apparently some of our more "conservative" Freepers think we should overhaul the Constitution just to give the RINO a chance!

Why do you think Powell is a Liberal?

You've been here since 2001 and have to ask that?

In the Guliani made for TV movie, they portrayed Rudy as pro-life who had to compromise politically in order to be elected Mayor. According to the film, Rudy's position became "let the states decide." If this is true, and I'm not assuming that it is; is Rudy truly that pro-abortion?

I'm sure there are Freepers with more extensive knowledge of Rudy's statements, actions, etc. who can enlighten me.

>>>What tripe ...

I sense you have a considerable amount of anger towards John McCain and that's your right. Just keep it aimed at Mccain.

I see McCain as a political mavarick and I believe him when he says he's pro-life. Zell Miller happens to be a conservative whose more confortable with the policy agenda of PresBush and the GOP, then he is with the policy agenda John Kerry and the DNC. As Miller says, he's too old to change. He'll die a Democrat.

>>>I think conservatives should support steady, stable Constitutionalists, not wild-eyed, manical Demagogues.

In principle, I agree with you. The problem is, presneting yourself as a strict Constitutionalist, will probabaly get you about 1% of the vote. Here in Colorado, by sticking with the most conservative Republican candidate available, you have a good chance of seeing your guy victorious. Politics is a slow process and change will not be gained overnight.

I do admire how he got tough on crime in New York and how he stood with his fellow New Yorkers after 911.

This is the kind of sentimentality conservatives must guard against when electing national leaders.

I sense you have a considerable amount of anger towards John McCain and that's your right. Just keep it aimed at Mccain.

I previously wrote, "this isn't aimed at you; McCain likes to paint himself as a "political maverick." I was just reacting to the "tripe" that I feel the leftist media has used to portray McCain and not your personal use of the phrase. I apologize if that didn't come across clearly. I shouldn't have used that response in communicating with you at all.

I don't have anger at McCain; politics is not my god and I don't worship at it's altar. I am extremely critical of his positions and recognize the danger that people like McCain pose to our future as a Republic (what's left of it) should he gain power.

Of course, you're right, but I must admit that I no longer hold out any hope that this nation can be transformed for the better. In my eyes, it would take a sovereign act of God in a true spiritual awakening, but all evidence points in the opposite direction for this nation, namely an all out apostasy from the truth and a nation that is moving from Post-Christian to Anti-Christian.

Hayworth/Watts good and intelligent men. Electable? Doubtful.

Damn right they are electable. HRC will be the DemonRat nominee in 08. Do you think she will carry ONE state in the south? Watts has broad appeal, and Hayworth is very likeable. While we are just having fun with this now, I would love to see one or both of these men run in 08.

What other very conservative republican governors are out there right now who would be really up for a really big challenge and be able to take on the whole world?

Can anyone cite a reference verifying Condoleeza Rice's pro-choice stance? I have always thought she was pro-life.
