Sgt. York is getting a bit toey out there. I wonder if they did a run thru with him on pavement in the last few days. Race horses aren't used to pavement.

Good point, but I think he's been retired from the racetrack for some time. Since Army and Marine Corps officers in the rank of colonel or higher can request the caparisoned horse, he get fairly regular usage along the paved "roads" of Arlington. But he does look "spirited," doesn't he?

When they reach the intersection at 4th & something is what they said on fox... but I don't know DC, so that may be useless info.

I'm surprised CSPAN isn't showing highlights from the funeral of Chester A. Arthur (CSPAN is a sucker for obscure historical information)

OK. I just want the requisite solemnity paid. I don't want this to degenerate into the usual American irreverent BS spectacle. I find the voices right near the mic really irritating.

I'm so proud of the crowd. FNC reported you could hear a pin drop as the hearse was being carried to the caisson.

Very respectful and taking their young children on such a hot day is teaching them a bit of history.

Somehow I think President Reagan wanted to have the music. Just MHO. And good distinction you made between this funeral and the funeral of Kennedy, struck down.
