We arrived at 12th and Constitution at 2PM set up Freeper camp and then took shifts watching the kids in the Smithsonian. The crowd slowly grew until it was 10-15 people deep all along the procession route. All in attendance were polite, somber and super patriotic. Enjoy the photos.

Thanks for the pics. I watched it on TV, but seeing it from one vantage point is different.

If a picture is worth a thousand words you have written a large book there. Thank you.

What struck me looking at the photos and watching CSPAN:

All the NICE people are out today.

Great photos! I was at 3rd and Constitution and on the opposite side of the street. I enjoyed the procession and seeing my fellow Americans paying their respects.

That's him, Sergeant York.

Very handsome horse, photog caught him at a bad moment as he inverted his neck and tossed his head. He IS small for a Standardbred.

I'm glad they used President Reagan's own boots. They look a little unusual against all the black, but that's o.k., it just makes it plain that they're his own and he was a horseman.

Great pix, pettifogger.

My DH is a photographer, you can tell these were done by somebody with an "eye".

What kind of camera/lens and film did you use?

It was a digital day. All shots were with a Nikon D70 with either the Nikon 18-70 f3.5-4.5 or a Sigma 70-300 f4.5-5.6. Photos were shot in the lowest compression JPG, and then resized w/ Photoshop 7.0 (batch process). All photos are as taken with the exception of the Nancy Reagan shot. That took lots of work to show her through the tinted glass.

My husband has a D70, and he is using the Photoshop and seems to be enjoying himself. It certainly is handy to be able to see what you got right away, not to mention being able to crop and adjust (apparent) exposure without darkroom fiddling (or sending stuff back to the Great Yellow Father over and over and over . . . )

I am still befuddled by the whole digital thing - I have real trouble with action shots so I just use it for snapshots. For "serious" stuff I'm still a believer in 4x5 for things that hold still, and a Leica M3 for moving objects . . . just a happy reactionary with my Gossen meter dangling around my neck . . . :-D

These are wonderful photos, and for freepers like me, it really makes it seem like we were there.

This photo is my favorite.  The composition is excellent and it's professional quality.
