"Oh - and as for the laughable contention that Fox is 'fair and balanced' ... it is just as biased as CNN - merely from a different direction."

Quite right, not exactly "fair and balanced". It is too congenitally leftist to be either.

CNN is just to repulsive to listen to with the obvious left bias and constant digs at conservatism.

It kind of sounds a little bit like my late grandma, if a little bit more strident in rhetoric.

She was a really sweet woman. I should probably mention something about her on my FR web page.

Accch! I'm sweating like a stuck pig!

How're you doing?

The spelling and grammatical errors on the CNN banner are getting worse by the day too.... such as "US Roll in Iraq to Diminesh"

Instead of US Role in Iraq to Diminish

It's symptomatic of much larger problems. CNN = the most Distrusted Name in the News.

Wow!

You're willing to forsake the incredibly witty banter of Roger Lodge?

You must be really buckling down, Missy.

When I mentioned "fringe", I was implying the far-left of the democrat party. It seems to me that the very left "fringe" has taken over the media and democrat party and they are being portrayed as the mainstream.

"CNN's evening programming includes shows hosted by Paula Zahn, Anderson Cooper, Larry King and Aaron Brown"
I think I see the problem. Yep, a new executive in NY will solve all their problems. (note to self: sell all CNN stock today)

CNN,along with such losers Time Magazine and Madonna are all part of the Time Warner gang.Anyone who owned Time Warner stock either sold it years ago or has lost 80%in the last four years. Time Warner is run by That Dick,, Parsons who just spent 50 million on his own private office.Every night before he goes to bed, Dick kisses the framed photo of Ted Turner that sits on the bedside table.

Perhaps some one can add to this. Yesterday Rush Limbaugh said CNN is doing very well in ad revenues. That they get higher paying advertisements than does FOX. This is due to the leftist and feminist habits of the media buyers in the ad agencies. This is the story Rush tells. That ad agencies are willing to screw their customers and put them on CNN rather than FOX.

Sure, I can add something. The viewers that watch CNN over FoxNews are actually DUMBER. Therefore, they are more likely to buy stuff because they "saw it on TV". TV advertisers sell more stuff to idiots than they sell to people who think about what they buy. There are more dumb people who watch CNN than watch FoxNews -- ergo the ad time is more valuable on CNN.

Yes.

And that's how it goes! You tell everyone that which they want to hear.

For the Middle East it was the US is getting trashed in Iraq.

For the European it's an unjustified imperialistic war.

For the American it's just a slight left touch, but nothing to "Turn off ish".

Everyone gets the reality they "WANT" and will watch. Advertisers will pay!

The danger here is that there is NO bar exam to be a reporter. There is no ethical framework, no standard. Nor do they want this. It's ALL about ratings and accuracy in reporting is not even an issue. Reporters report with impunity. Libel and Slander are terms that require some sort of ethics and are never used. They are NOT self correcting or critical. They do not fix the damage done. Bogus reports that damage people forever get fixed with a little corrections box on the rear page somewhere in small print. You can say absolutely anything! When the media smears people do they really stand good for the damage? That's a worth while story!

News is presented like commentary and hence is nothing more than someones opinion. I don't care for someones qualifying remarks reference any situation. Give me the facts and I'll form my own opinion. Or AT LEAST SHOW BOTH SIDES, and if it's total BS don't waste my time. Was that reporter in Baghdad really so oblivious to what was going on when he reported what the Iraqi Information Secretary said? As he saw US tanks parked all over and controlling the city why did he report the stuff HE KNEW HAD TO BE FALSE? The news is nothing BUT commentary with a little fact wrapped inside somewhere. It's like a bunch of kids running around on an easter egg hunt looking for stories. They throw everything out there that they think will sell. Even if they themselves KNOW it's bogus. Of course it must get packaged to fit into a 2 minute sound bite. If it's an in depth report it may be a 5 minute report.

Or if it's a commentary have a big sign pop up that states so. It's hard to distinguish between fact and opinion at times. Especially with the pace and volume with which is reported. People GENERALLY take things said on the news as fact.

What we get is what the news agency sees as marketable, packaged in a short sound bite and spun to fit the reporters, editors or owners taste. Ever see a talk show where they have two librals and a moderator? Don't you feel like it's an insult to your intelligence? This noise we get served is annoying at best and not worth being called "NEWS". At least not that which is served on CNN.

Am I the only one who thinks that part of it is because CNN ABC NBC MSNBC and CBS split the same share of audience, while FOX captures a different one?

I only hold a mid-level position at my work, and I have really no authority over what stations are kept on at our work cafeterias, break-rooms, etc. But about a year ago I went to an AV room and switched every TV to Fox from CNN. I waited, but no one said a word! Now, day and night, 2,500 employees are watching Fox whenever they are having lunch or are on break. A silent coup..and it worked!!

I was particularly disappointed in Fox on Wednesday night. After showing a very touching service in the Rotunda, they abuptly cut off at 8:15 and went to O'Reilly who bagan bitching about Chirac - total lack of decorum.

Also, I hope they lose all the graphics today, too.

Fox needs to learn to lose the graphics

Yes! They are ruining my wide screen rear projection TV. They burn into the screen. I have contacted Fox News twice. I love these guys, but hey, the TV cost $3,400. Sometimes my wife and I listen to Fox News with the TV screen turned off. So, yes, please lose the graphics ...for several reasons.
