Clergymen take religion to a nightclub!

Two clergymen in Denver have found a new way of taking religion to the masses, they have opened a church in a nightclub. Every fortnight people are greeted by the founder Matt Honeycutt, who holds a pint of beer in one hand while welcoming people with the other.

According to The Daily Enquirer, it is mainly people in their 20s and 30s who are comfortable with finding God in a bar. They believe in following the teachings of Christ in a wholesome atmosphere that does not tolerate excessive drinking.

Mike Shepherd, the founder of the church has taken the initiative in order to reach out to the few drunkards who attend church.

"That's where believers are more likely to go if they're disconnected from God and the traditional church, but still have a tugging in their heart for something more," he said. (ANI)

What's next? Maybe something radical like the Apostle Paul writing "I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some."

People are to be met where they are and introduced to Jesus.

Don't knock it. I've seen some real healing and teaching happen at Theology on Tap meetings here.

Didn't Jesus turn water into wine? Or did I misread that?

Yes a christian church in the Atlanta area rented the building for a few months.....they fixed it up and opened up a church there for about 3 or 4 months. The Gold Club property will eventually become a site for condos.

Not only that, He also ate with sinners and tax collectors. ((But don't tell anyone - they might get offended.))

Not everyone in a bar is there to get drunk, although the article seems to shift between portraying this as an atmosphere of self-control and one of blatant drunkenness. I've seen a man come back to the church after a long period of being lost in extremely serious sin by coming to one of these meetings and meeting our bishop. An atmosphere was created in which that man was comfortable admitting his sins in public and coming for spiritual help. It was a beautiful thing.

Yes he did, but I don't remeber him or the Apsotles sitting at the local watering hole trying to talk about the Gospels to the lost...

I am shocked! I also heard a rumor that it is alleged that Christ not only partook of wine but also produced it in abundant quantity and gave it to His disciples at the Last Supper.

They're stealing ideas from comedian Tim Wilson, who wrote "First Baptist Bar & Grill".

Check out a clip of the song here:

People that are in bars usually find there way to GOD eventually, The Clergy is not going to speed up the process any faster by being in the bar too...

Instead of hanging out at a local watering hole Jesus just produced huge amounts of wine for a party. Ok.
