Brit Hume and Lt Col Bill Cowan Supporting Switfee Story
Fox News

Posted on 08/10/2004 3:32:18 PM PDT by what's up

Hume looks to be going after the story. Asking ALL the right questions.

Basically the main topic was whether the other Swift Boat people would have been considered as "serving" with John Kerry.

Lt Col Bill Cowan who served on a Swift Boat said "Absolutely!" In FACT, someone on another boat might be able to BETTER see what was going on on Kerry's boat than the men on the boat themselves because they have a panoramic view of the scene.

I believe that whatever Kerry SAYS happened, he should be accountable for the truth of.

When he SAYS something happened, then proceeds to engage in history revisionism (with the help of Steven Spielberg), we need to hold his feet to the fire of the TRUTH!

IT'S OUR DAMN DUTY to see to it that Liberals don't pull their "Well, what's the truth anyway? I can be anything Kerry wants it to be, and who are WE to say it wasn't the way he said it was."

THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH, and Liberals rewriting THEIR dictionary's doesn't change a thing!!!

He said he's "staying away" from the SBV story.

Now there's courage and moral standing for you.

To paraphrase an ophalmologist radio commercial in South Texas, "you take Peña, no you take Peña!" as no one wanted the local nerd on his sandlot baseball team, I can imagine that the other swift boat skippers in an operation, upon learning that the Boston Strangler was on a mission with them, would be arguing, "You take Kerry. No you take Kerry!"

The point is that Kerry wanted people who listened to his personal story, to believe thatKerry was in Cambodia. Whether he was there or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is an inquiry into whether or not he was making up a story to suit his personal ambition.

What makes you think he'll change his mind?

Probably its just naivete on my part, but the facts of this story are so compelling, so well documented and attested to by people of character, that it will be well nigh impossible for him to stand athwart the force of the truth.

O'Reilly's shaky credibility could be argued, I agree, but he does need to maintain SOME, at least, and that is why I think he will eventually come around.

I'll admit I could be wrong. That's why my last words were, "Let's wait and see."

But the Sandy Berger thing is not officially over is it?

I mean isn't there an ongoing investigation?

I know it's over for now press-wise (any oxymoron), but it will surely resurface.

It seems akin to working out of the same firehouse but being assigned to different trucks ... the way the Kerry apologists were talking these Swift Boats sounded like aircraft carriers!

I heard in the NEWS portion (not a quote) on a top of the hour broadcast this morning on ABC radio news that these anti-Kerry Swiftees "did not serve with Kerry." I could not believe my ears.

That is why I think these pictures must be plastered all over the place. These pictures show how very close the boats were to each other.

I pray you are right and that NO ONE will be able to stand in the way of the truth.

Do you know if the swifties are going to do more than just release the book and give some interviews?
The Rally on the 12th of Sept?
A news conference? A legal battle?

Re. the O'Reilly's remark that he is "staying away from" the SBV story:

There is another possible take on this.

Since O'Reilly has been tangibly PRO-Kerry up till now, this represents a backing away from his non-stop bashing the Swifties.

Could be a first step toward modifing his take on the issue.

Just as an aside, I don't watch O'Reilly at all as I can't get him where I live, I've never read even one of his books, and I'm not carring his water. I'm just wondering out loud if this might just take an unexpected turn in a week or so.

Did anyone hear what Rush quoted re the Cambodian story this morning on the 3rd hour of his show?

He quoted Kerry on the campaign trail a year ago telling a reporter about his top secret mission to Cambodia or something. I was in the car with kids so did not hear every word.

Rush ended the 2-minute segment in that mysterious way he has by saying softly, (paraphrasing) "So either Kerry anticipated getting caught in the lie and tried to pre-empt it, or else he really was in Cambodia."

Anyone know what Rush was reading from???????

B.O.'s getting ready to have have kerry's SF guy on. I've been wondering, If Kerry's commanders knew kerry was a waterborne dufus, why would they put a SF guy on his boat? Birds of a feather? Besides, everything I've seen about SF training seems to indicate they could swim even if they were carrying a tank. I wonder if the SF guy was as big a dufus as kerry.

"did not serve with Kerry."

This focus-group-tested mantra from the DNC will be repeated ad nauseum on every DNC mouthpiece media outlet in the nation and outside it: CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, NPR, PBS, Reuters, UPI, and Pravda.

Disgusting.

It would just be nice for the media to actually hold Kerry accountable for something, anything. You would think the man walks on water!

I might actually drop dead if they start questioning him seriously on this stuff. I might actually think I've left the planet.
