LIVE THREAD! President and Laura Bush: Larry King Live 8/12
8/12/04

Posted on 08/12/2004 5:35:48 PM PDT by Timeout

George and Laura Bush to be on with Larry King for the full hour tonight. I don't usually watch LKL because of his lame questions. But it should be interesting.

I don't know what the planned timing is, but I agree with you, it should be on the President's terms not in an exchange with an antagonistic airhead who can't even formulate a question worthy of the topic or debate.

King is a lib dem.

He probably did not wear the jacket on purpose.

He is an idiot and belongs in a home.

He's old and treats everybody this way. He has an ego miles high and wide. I remember very clearly when he went from a night time show to an afternoon drive how he talked about how his show was the fastest growing in radio history. Well, he was a known quantity and many of his regulars just changed their listening habits. A very few years later when he shut down the afternoon show he did a couple of days of reminiscences.

Johnny Carson did something similar when he passed the baton to Jay Leno. Strange that when Johnny did it I got the impression that he was grateful and still amazed at some of the wonderful experiences he had and was able to share with us. LK just struck me as someone trying to remind me of how lucky I was to experience his greatness. It was a huge put-off.

Recently, somebody called into Rush's program and said that the President was probably told to stay put until the SS could scope out the location. The guy said something about the SS wanting to be sure there was nobody waiting outside for the President.

Maybe people think the President should reveal this info, but I don't think so. This info involves the security of the President and is better left unsaid. Maybe somebody will reveal it in a book after he leaves office and the dems can continue to scrape the egg off their stupid faces.

Also .. Card might have told the President that he needed to give the SS time to locate other members of the cabinet. I thought this info was much more plausible than the President just spacing out.

The President did much better on Larry King than he did on Meet the Press.

Gen Tommy Franks says in his book, and in some recent tv interviews, that the mission accomplished stuff was HIS IDEA - his soldiers needed some recognition and closure.

will someone be posting a full transcript? maybe it will be on the white house site...

It will be, I can almost guarantee it. Practically anything that comes out of the President's, or Vice President's, mouth is transcribed and put on the site. As to WHEN it will happen, I don't know.

My question is, when is the REPLAY? I'd like to tape it.

Just answered my own question.

The replay is due to air at 9pm, Left Coast time (Los Angeles).

Thanks to everyone for the warm-up, though.

Well .. since Kerry made that statement in his interview with King .. I don't think King is going to confront him now since he didn't confront him then.

I know it always makes ME feel better watching him; maybe he can figure out a way to give us pep talks!

I didn't see the original message, and for that, I apologize...but if you're talking about President Bush, I would love for him to give all of the motivational speeches that he can handle...

after January 20, 2009...the day that he leaves office after his SECOND term.

Doesn't Kerry have any idea how forced, contrived, phoney, and dorky these tarmac sports photo ops are? Let's hope no one tells him.

BTW, who's he throwing to? After his hilarious lame-o effort at the Red Sox game, he should give up baseball, and move to a more FRENCH game...Mille Bourne!

Every time this 7 minutes in front of the schoolroom on 9-11 issue comes up I get a mental image of an advisor informing Kerry. Then, Kerry springs to his feet, arms flailing helplessly in the air as he bellows at the camera (and children!) "MY GOD, WE'RE BEING ATTACKED!!"

And I don't think I'm too far off with that either, LOL!

OMG, I remember playing Mille Bourne all the time growing up! It was a good card game for kids, and still fun for adults to play.

Larry: You went alone. How do you respond to that?

W: Gosh, you know, tony blair doesn't think that.

I LOVE IT!

They are a stunning couple, gorgeous family

It's almost a shame we can't see the first lady cat fight. Hopefully the real merits will shine forth.

"he said Impeachment Boy threw himself into the job body and soul"

LOL...Did W say precisely what kind of "job" he was referring to?

There would also be a big wet spot in front of Kerry's pants.

Yeah, we played Mille Bourne a lot too, right after we were married, with other couples who didn't yet have kids. We used to play games all the time at home...Parcheesi, "Water Works," Chinese checkers...I guess we can go back to those kind of evenings when we retire. LOL
