They had built their castles in strategic areas after carrying out ground studies. Prehistoric environmental impact studies?

Damn -- that's one big van. You know you've got the newest, most luxurious model when you have to separate the inside of your van into provinces!!!
To: blam
They did. This probably was one used a couple of years ago and still the most advanced in the area. :^)

Thanks blam!
"I thought the Minoans on Crete had the first toilets"? That was claimed of course, but Evans wanted the Minoans to be just like Victorians. Wunderlich (a geologist I think) claims that the "toilets" were actually facilities for embalming (the drains got rid of the blood etc) and that the palaces were actually mortuaries and mausoleums for the upper crust of that time, analogous to the Egyptian practices. Please FREEPMAIL me if you want on, off, or alter the "Gods, Graves, Glyphs" PING list --
Archaeology/Anthropology/Ancient Cultures/Artifacts/Antiquities, etc.

they were grouped in a series of emirates known as Nairi, Emirs have become rulers after the invasion by the Turks and establishment of Islam, which occurred 1300 years after the period described in the article. There were no "emirates" then.
