The pounding Kerry has been taking from the Swift Boat Veterans over his Vietnam record, and his concomitant poll plunge, is literally driving his liberal supporters crazy.
The evidence was at hand on last evening's Fox Media Watch (the rebroadcast of which I'm watching this morning at 6:30-7 AM EDT).
In all my years of watching the show, I cannot recall the resident liberals - Jane Hall (a woman of a certain age), and the small-but-perfeectly formed Neal Gabler - so absolutely beside themselves.
So frenzied was Gabler that you almost imagined the men in white suits would have to make an appearance before Gabler hurt someone or himself. He was apoplectic at the notion that the panel was discussing the merits of the issue at all, declaring that this just played into Karl Rove's diabolical plot. He simply wanted to declare that the allegations were false, a fraud, etc. and would brook no debate.
Biting the Fox paw that feeds her, Jane Hall blamed "the cable news networks" for perpetuating the story. Both the libs agreed that it was wrong of the media to present both sides of the story, since in their view there is only one side - all the Swift Boat Vets for Truth are lying.
When Cal Thomas attempted to cite the statement by William L. Schachte Jr., a retired rear admiral, to the effect that he was on the same small boat as Kerry but did not witness any enemy fire during the event for which Kerry received his first Purple Heart, Gabler totally lost it. He screamed and cut Cal off, determined that there would be no more discussion of the issue.
Never have I seen the libs in such blind panic and fury. They know that Kerry's lies about his record have come home to roost and will ultimately cost him the election. It was glorious!
They are having a hard time trying to boost someone not nearly as likeable or competent in deception.
Every new Kerry vet who supports him, every critical story of the Swiftvets, every attack on Bush's "connection" to the ads---every one of these merely keeps the story alive an adds to the sense in some peoples' minds that "something is fishy." But wait! It gets even better: Let's say you're a voter not sure whether to believe the Swiftboat vets' ads or not, at the very least what they have done is to obliterate two years' worth of groundlaying by the Dems with the "Bush lied" mantra. At the very worst, uninformed voters now say, "They both lied." (I know, this is ridiculous, but try to think like an uninformed voter for a minute). If "they both lied," then Kerry has to have some hugely appealing traits or programs that would convince people to abandon an incumbent, and he doesn't! So at the very least, the Swiftboat vets---and the unintentional support they got from the media---destroyed the entire pre-Dem Convention strategy of the last two years! It's a beautiful thing to watch.
It's going to get better.
Georgie Tirebiter! He's a student like me!
LOL
Not funny but is that Jonestown. The kool aid folks.
"Conservatives have no cojones. We saw that during the clintoon era. He literally got away with murder while we stood by and watched."
Those 900 FBI files sure came in handy, didn't they?
Rolling ball bearings in her hand, she was muttering "It was the strawberries that gave it away"....
These indivdiduals are neobolsheviks, what do you expect? The ends always justify the means with the left.
"The ends always justify the means with the left."
LOL, it's too early....*YAWN*
I meant the means justify the ends.
A Thursday before the election release of 'just found' pictures of W exiting his fighter plane while obviously drunk?
The problem is that most people do not get their news from Free Republic and will believe these guys are liars beacuse the media said so!
Just like Newsweek on MTP today...we have cleared up this whole thing and John Kerry is telling the truth.
Did John Kerry sign a form to release all his records that we little people do not know about?
I speculated "Edwards" a couple weeks ago too, but without the insights that you provided here. Edwards has a fairly powerful machine behind him, too.
In any event, I think this will be an unsettling election. People will be uneasy with changes in the ticket "at the last minute," or even after the election. But, them's the breaks.
Kerry could resign under any number of pretenses, and the relapse is one of the better ones to use.
The ballots are irrelevant. We vote for electors (who are associated with political parties), not candidates, in presidential elections. Then the electors cast ballots for the person of the president, in December.

ROTFL! I'm sure there are plenty saying it at home.
LOL! You and me both.
Thanks for the links.
You are very welcome. Now we just have to use them!!!
