Following the execution of Atefeh, a 16 year old girl in the northern city of Neka in Iran, who was accused of having had an extramarital sexual affair, the legal experts are now worried about the faith of three young people who are condemned to death by the Islamic courts. Under international pressure the Judiciary has now announced that they are waiting for three young boys to reach the age of 18 before they are executed. The authorities have not revealed what the boys are convicted of.
Under Islamic Law children are exempt from judicial punishment but the same legal system considers girls at the age of 10 and boys at 16 as adults and punishable.
Although in the past two years the IRI have not carried out some of the court verdicts which contravened the international law of Human Rights, but at the same time no amendments have been made to the Islamic legal system in these respects.
ISNA, the students news agency in Iran says they received letters which warns them the boys have just turned 18 and if the international public opinion remains silent they will have the same faith as Atefeh, the 16 year old girl from Neka.
CONTACT MSM - FREE IRAN NOW! THE POLICY OF APPEASEMENT AND MAINTAINING STATUS QUO IN IRAQ IS BULLSHIT - LETS GO !!!!
Get off it right now, Iranian. American soldiers are being killed in Iraq every damn day, and we're dealing with the Europeans. Look to your house, stop whining and get off your own butts!
John Kerry impersonation done by Popman
We kill 50,000 (or more) children a year through abortion. Simply because we don't want them. What makes you think America cares about the kids that you mention. Sad but true.
Seriously, how much do the Mullahs really care about international opinion?
Kofi Annan has me on hold. Apparently, my credit card was cancelled or something.
Your wasting you time with this one xJ.
I had a back and forth with him the other day and all I got was how much the Iranians contributed to the modern world and how little everyone else was doing to help the Iranian populace.
It doesn't seem to dawn on him that it is they who need to enact change from within. He is of the 'help us clean up our self-made mess and then get out' crowd.
Obviously, those three children were either subversives or spies. /sarc
It doesn't seem to dawn on him that it is they who need to enact change from within.
Your comment begs the question...why is your comment true of Iran but not Iraq?
Just a question.
Then quit appeasing and maintaining the status quo, f_s. Do it from within; start a revolution and overthrow the mullah filth. Quit blaming everyone else for your problems. Handle it!
And quit yelling; turn the damned Caps Lock button, off!
They overthrew the Shah and his Savak in favor of the mullahs and their far worse minions, so if it they want out of that fire of their own making, let 'em do it like they did in 1979.
Can you begin to imagine the heat that would come down on our president if he were to attempt to initiate change in Iran from without?
Just look at the extreme flack the man is getting from appeasers both at home and abroad for going into Iraq even though he had 17 UN resolutions, including 1441, and the US congress vote all on his side.
If the Iranians can wait another 12 years then by all means lets get the diplomatic ball rolling.
I hate to say it, but the number is more like 1 1/2 million. Roughly 51 million murdered human beings in the last 31 years was the last figure I saw. Hitler only managed to kill a mere 6 million Jews, his "final solution" was small potatoes compared to the American abortion industry.
And that's exactly what it is, an industry in business strictly for profit, lot's of profit.
"Jesus, give some of us a break..."
Would you mind not using God's name in vain? Thank you.
Are you kidding me - half of you really have issues - I'm catholic beezlepug - don't be so quick to take offense..
Teenagers are clearly children. What world do you inhabit?
He seems to forget that they had a revolution a few years back that installed the Mullahs and alienated them from America. Not to mention keeping hundreds of American citizens hostage for over a year. NOW HE EXPECTS OUR SOLDIERS TO GO AND DIE TO OUST THE MULLAHS THEIR PARENTS PUT IN POWER!!! IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER REVOLUTION, THEY DID IT ONCE, AND THEY CAN DO IT AGAIN!!! UNTIL THE MULLAHS THREATEN THE U.S. DIRECTLY, THEY'RE LIBERATION IS NOT WORTH A SCRATCH ON ONE AMERICAN SOLDIER.
Some of your critics conveniently forget that America's Revolution was successful largely because of the help of "outsiders" like the French.
Iran's people are in my prayers.
Anyone who believes Iraq was not a threat to us and needed to be dealt with is ignorant.
Some memories aren't so short. In 1979 the Iranian people couldn't hate the U.S. enough. Great Satan, Death to America, all that kind of hatred. That bizarre Ayatolloh died, the mullahs are no fun anymore, the situation's hell and now you just love us to pieces.
Did it ever occur to you that even we have limited resources and there's a bunch of us that can remember how well you can hold revolutions when you really to? Those are your children being executed, those are your people standing by, and those would be many of your people cursing American soldiers if any came into your country.
And it's ludicrous to think that e-mailing those publications will help. You've revolted before, you can do again.
I've been reading it, Dude, and Iranians expats are scattered all over the world. You wake up, you made your owns problems, and you have the ability to solve them. I have that much faith in the Iranian (Persian) people.
xJones - you don't know kid - you just DON'T
To say that Iranians made there own problems is absolute bullshit.. It's called the WEST who installed Khoemeini and Carter admin turned their backs on Shah because they wanted Islamic Fanatic Governments all around Communist Soviet Empire.. Khomenei was installed by the French and Britishs numnuts..
dude you're not reading - don't attempt to speak to me or anyone else like you know what the deal is, when you don't, because it's hilarious to those of us who do know history!
Your point, while stretched to fit this situation, nonetheless rings true...
"I'm catholic beezlepug..."
I suppose you are assuming I thought you were a Muslim? As a Catholic you should know better. As a Christian, I have every right to be offended. And I did ask politely, didn't I?
Yah - that's what I assumed - sorry for the assumption.. Occasionally myself and other Catholics and Christians I know say "Jesus" once in a while.. sorry if you took offense..
The Euro-peons are in bed with the enemy. Iranian Mullahs are the head of the Islamic Jihadist Hydra. We need to decapitate them.
PBUH, and this Protestant hopes an FR Catholic doesn't come along to question your orthodoxy.:) I'll give you credit, at least you hang around to take the incoming...
I have absolutely no idea why you are getting so much flack on this thread.
Here is a bump for you.
Obviously, you aren't connected enough. You know Kofi Annan and didn't get your cut of the Oil for Food
scandal program ; )
People - good and bad - love to give freedom fighters flack.. 'uck 'em -
I don't think the Persians ever hated the USA --- they got wrapped up in some revolution idea --- they were being used by the mullahs --- as misguided as they were they didn't hate us then or now. One thing I always found interesting --- those guys who would demonstate with brown bags over their heads were actually friendly and fairly open minded in discussing politics, religion and everything. Deep down they don't have the right mentality for being Muslims.
True, Zoroastrianism was much more their style. And they separated themselves from the Arab Muslims by insisting on their own Shia version of Islam. Persians do make uncomfortable Muslims.
Most Persians I know are either Zoroastrians or non-religious and joke about Islam all the time!
It's a beautiful thing!
D2A (great screen name, btw!), I think even a cursory read of the history of Iran, even nothing more than, say, 1970 to 1979, would make it rather clear that the mess is anything but self-made. There were significant external influences pushing affairs along toward the overthrow of the Shah and the subsequent struggle for power that ultimately the mullahs won.
zEven Jimmy Carter has a bow or two to make for his contribution to this state of affairs, as has been noted in other FR articles.
Look to Carter for the big reason that Iran lost its way.
I think you misunderstand what happened in 1979 in Iran. Here's a brief summary :
20-30% of the population (radicals of different sorts, communists included) wanted to get rid of the Shah. The Shah's Savak's main targets were the communists and radicals. When the uprising increased, the Shah, who had been the U.S.'s biggest ally in the middle east, asked for help from Carter. Carter lied to the Shah and supported Khomeini. The Iranians as majority, wanted to keep a democratic gov't and had one for about 6 to 9 mos after the Shah was encouraged by Carter to leave. Then Khomeini took over and immediately killed thousands, including most of the Shah's people, who had been promised safety, by Carter.
The vast majority of the Iranian people NEVER wanted Khomeini running the country.
The reason we have an inaccurate picture of what happened is because of how the media portrayed things then, and continues to hide the truth about Carter, now. Carter is responsible for the downfall of Iran, the murder and torture of untold 10's of thousands, and problems with terrorism we face today. He is the reason that Iran is not our ally anymore, and why the people there have suffered under a theological dictatorship for the past 25 years.
Seeing as how Carter was a U.S. president, it's pretty amazing that the people of Iran are pro-U.S. after all they've endured.
You are right!
It is not a CHOICE...
It is a CHILD!
