Yes. there is a an unimplemented fax standard that DOES essentially, OCR a document, or create a typeface on the fly and transmit that and high-level description of a document. IIRC it is some optional part of the G4 standard, or maybe it is G5???

No fax machine I know of does this.

Telecom is chock full of standards that nobody uses and that are impractical to implement.

It was a card that was added to over the years from what I understand. Each entry was typed in as it occurred, I think. It's on page 3 of this set of docs that Bush released: http://www.usatoday.com/news/bushdocs/9-Miscellaneous.pdf

Killian adds that he thinks Lt. Bush has gone over his head, and is "talking to someone upstairs."

See W was getting flack back then for his faith. Wait a minute! W hadn't gone through a conversion experience back then. Could this be a dim Freudian slip? Hmmm.

But if you substitute the number 1, for the lower case letter L, it looks virtually like the number 1 but their is a larger space between the 1 and the st, just like the CBS document. Try it.

I seem to remember when I was in high school typing class being taught on a typewriter that did not even have a numeral "1" on it. We were taught to always use the lower case "L." It would be easy for someone who had experience typing on an older typewriter with no numeral "1" to sometimes revert to using the lower case "L" even when typing on a newer typewriter with a numeral "1" key.

Sigh. I guess I'm not being clear. I'm frustrated with the conservative spokespersons who are not pointing out that Barnes is lying because he said he pulled strings to get Bush into the ANG when he (Barnes) was Lt. Gov. when he was not Lt. Gov. when Bush enlisted. That seems like the clearest indication that he's a lier. Why aren't they using it?

I think the signatures look like they were made by the same person. I think the forger simply used a signature of Killian's from another document and pasted it on the forged document.

It would be interesting to see if the identical signature could be found on another document signed by Killian. I mean identical, as in the one that was photocopied and used in the forged document.

Thank you. That all makes sense now. He got his degree in '76 & for all I know he was thinking about making a prototype. Those were days where there were a lot of different limits (by current standards). Memory, speed & storage have taken huge leaps since then, so yeah, that kind of standard would be antiquated by now.

Drug and aclcohol testing became standard while i was in the navy and as I recall it was circa 82 that it began

That's about what I recall. I joined the Navy in 79, and while no one openly condoned drug use it wasn't uncommon to hear "I don't care what you do on your own time, just don't bring it on duty." That was soon replaced with the random whiz quiz and "Not on MY watch, not on MY ship, not in MY navy."

Good point. Another poster somewhere suggests that the signature seems to have been chopped off a bit when it was pasted in.

I think you should start a new thread with this comment.

Perhaps you can be the clearing house to forward information to the AP.

The second line has 111th with the superscript th, and was dated 1968.

...Now, if they can only account for the exact kernaling match and those pesky curved appostrophies... It's a phony. ;)
