How would I file a comment with the FCC for consideration when my local CBS affiliate has their FCC license renewed? The closest link I could find on the FCC site is this.
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/falsebroadcast.pdf
However, I don't know if it is exactly appropriate. Does the FCC deal with election tampering? Would comments about a false broadcast prior to an election be considered?
I'd like to know about this issue too... Because I already contacted my CBS affiliate in regards to Dan Blathers use of forged documents and I mentioned the FCC in my post. If you find anything out please let me know because I intend to follow up with the FCC and any business advertising on any CBS News program...
I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this crap from the MSM any more...
Sorry, I can't help you with your request but am encouraging you to pursue this.
I sent a message to cbs saying "I will never forgive you for dissrupting our election process while using our public airways to do so. Our house has decided to boycott you and your advertisers in response to your actions."
We need to remember that hitting them in their pocketbook is the best way for us to fight back.
How many advertisers can we contact? Don't just do it today, do it everyday until we reach out to all of their advertisers.
The licensee must advertise when its license is up for renewal, and solicit comments at that time. You can also find out when the license is to be renewed at fcc.gov. Revocation of a license is highly unusual, and is only more unusual than failure to receive a renewal, so you've got some work ahead to succeed.
But vent - rationally and without threats of violence - it will vent harmful anger from you into a mild anxiety in someone at the station.

These can be mailed, faxed or emailed.
I think it would be more effective if the FCC could force CBS to re-categorize 60Min as entertainment programming instead of news. Like the Daily Show. No one takes that crap seriously either.
Yanking their license or fining them would cause such howling and thrashing from the liberals. Censorship! 1st Ammendment!
I vent by walking precincts.
Each station keeps an FCC file for public comment that's included with its licence renewal application. Just specify that you want your letter or a written record of your call (letter's better) placed in the FCC file. Doesn't hurt to indicate at the bottom of your letter that you're sending a copy to the FCC in the highly unlikely event that someone would try to tamper with the file before renewal proceedings.
'Michael.Powell@fcc.gov'; 'Kathleen.Abernathy@fcc.gov'; 'Michael.Copps@fcc.gov'; 'KJMWEB@fcc.gov'; 'Jonathan.Adelstein@fcc.gov'
You can place comments in the offending station's own license file for others to see.
In fact, these write in protests almost always fail because, now matter how many letters they get, the dismiss it as only one issue. It might be different to the FEC, and it might attract the attention of sponsors if a couple of hundred thousand protests were file.
Pls continue to work on this!!
The FCC complaint says "they failed to serve the public interest by passing off political propaganda as news (Dan's nightly broadcast) or entertainment (the twice a week 60 Minutes)." The complaint to the FEC says they violated election law by pretending that it was news instead of a pure political message. Then somebody has the obligation to prove that Rather knew his stuff was BS. We would claim that Rather "should have known" because of "a journalistic code of ethics" (I LOVE that phrase - you can use it in polite company where you can't talk about "virginal hookers").
