Good morning, Alas. This may be the weekend when we hear the firming up of the themes that the DNC hopes will defeat the President in November. At some point they need to find a few and stick to them. The newest as far as I can tell is the GW is going to reinstitute the draft.

McCain will want to talk about his special interest, and effort, in getting Nader on the Florida ballot.
Of course, there's always time for sneaky, snide responses to questions about Bush, which the press will delight in misinterpreting and exaggerating.

I wish Dan Rather would go back on O'Reilly.
O'Reilly: If you forge documents are you a forger?
Rather: Well, no I wouldn't go that far Bill.
O'Reilly: (incredously) If you forge documents your not a forger?!? Really?
Rather: Some people might make a mistake and forge them once or twice, but I wouldn't give them that label, no.
O'Reilly: But these documents were forged with the intent to bring down a sitting President in a time of war.
Rather: I'd like to break that story if it's true.
O'Reilly: If they turn out to be forged you wouldn't label the person who forged them a forger? Or at least a criminal?
Rather: No, Bill I wouldn't. I mean, you have to look at the seriousness of these allegations. There are questions that need to be answered. The criminal here may turn out to be Bush.
O'Reilly: (punches Rather)

It seems from the guest list the Democrats have all but given up on trying to resuscitate the Kerry campaign. All their guests are safe-seated Senators of foreign policy wonks like Dickie Holbrook.Where are the Kerry attack dogs?

The Swift Boat Veterans for truth tripped up the Kerry campaign for the whole month of August.
The Bush bounce set him back another 2 weeks.
RatherGate is still being played out.
What will be the next torpedoe for the Kerry?
To: Alas Babylon!; All
So in other words, no one is expecting us to get the
Texas Democrats - Rathergate - Abu Gharib connection today?
When that's uncovered, it won't be a landslide, it will be annihilation.
Also, remember DNC put the call out for 3,000 attorneys to challenge electoral results. They got 10,000. Find "the list" and start publicizing the attorneys to some of the seedier elements they have previously represented would be Willie Horton to the exponential. Playing on the American public's antipathy toward lawyers and link to the large part they will play in the Kerry/Edwards campaign could strike another blow.
