Seniors can earn UP TO $3.84 an hour TAX FREE towards their health care by working 10 hours a week in his Retired not Tired program. Wow, I'm really impressed with this idea!

Yes, I've noticed that. Whatever their fears may be, self-contradiction isn't one of them.

Drop-outs have lousy work ehtics that surely won't improve in the armed forces. I don't care for a large number of lazy soldiers fighting alonside real volunteer patriots.

Alot of kids would go to a private school that final year and get a "certificate" of some type...to avoid this whole joke. Lets face facts...less than 60 percent of the kids in America are in decent enough shape at 18 to go through the military. You have so many obese kids...along with kids who simply can't read or comprehend enough to be in the miltary. And the "special" kids...the ones who are extreme left-wing and question all authority...how would any military unit establish control over these kids? I'd have 10 NCOs trying to handle 20 anti-authority kids...total waste of manpower. I've seen this problem before...and today's military doesn't waste time...you act anti-authority...you get the ticket home. You never serve out the four years.

Kerry will find this plan to be hard to pass though congress...which I think is the reason they keep hinting at it...if congress doesn't buy off...then it can't happen.

And that is what I meant by dumbing down our military. They would spend all their time handling lawsuits brought by anti-authority figures against them and if these figures stayed in the military the NCOs would be relegated to babysitting them. It would be total chaos. I don't doubt for a minute that Kerry knows this and actually hopes to see it happen.

Whoa! "Drafting every high school student is a massive misallocation of the Nation's youth resource."

You say you are against such a draft as slavery. Why then think in such terms? The "Nation's youth resource" sounds so fascist. Free American people are not resources, to be allocated or misallocated.

I'm glad to see that someone has the evidence on Kerry's real plans for America. I've been telling people about this for months but it seems like nobody cares. And then Kerry's site gets web-washed clean. By the way, Edwards had similar proposals on his site during the primaries.

Blatant socialism. Yes. Children are merely the first class of Americans who will be forced into civilian service. They won't be the only ones.

It's amazing that anyone would defend this by comparing it to the military draft in principle. I'm against the draft, even in principle. However, in times of clear peril to national security, a military draft is defensible, and after all, military service is temporary. Those who say that community service is appropriate because of government benefits we enjoy, should know that those benefits aren't temporary. There will always be plenty of justification to expand a civilian community service corps, and to lengthen the service, and to pile on the civilian's "obligation" to the state.

This is a program designed to re-educate the masses into the Socialist way of thinking, nothing more.

What The Socialists are planning are re-education camps throughout the US.

It is not a draft, but community service.

"Community service" is meted out as punishment for a crime that is not sufficiently serious to require prison time. Kerry wants to treat you like a criminal.

The idea of making community service mandatory has been around for years. As I recall,it was first bruited in the 1980s, probably by Ted Kennedy.(At least , that's the first time I was old enough to read about it in the papers and magazines-it's no doubt an even older idea). Then as now, it was supposed to be a graduation requirement, though there were those who wanted it made mandatory for every single American citizen.

What killed it back then was a few leftists being too open about the "mind control" aspects of it : Somebody openly commented on what a great boost in would be for racial relations if white middleclass kids were required to serve in mostly black inner city communities . This was at the height of the crack craze, and there had been plenty of newstories about the police being very leery of going into to some of those same inner city communities. And wealthy white liberals publicly gloated about sending the children of poorer whites there, in the name of 'antiracism'. The whole idea was quietly shelved, but it keeps coming back every few years, like the energizer bunny.

In his collection of essays called Whistling Dixie, John Shelton Reed discusses the 1980s proposal. Beyond that, I don't know where details of the older plan could be found in print, outside the old papers of that time.

However, this is even worse than what I said on the previous thread, especially the part about making it a graduation requirement from high school!!!! Kerry/Soros wants to prepare our youth to be perfect New World Order serfs!!!!

John Kerry believes we must create a new Community Defense Service to be guided by our nation's first responders. This service would be comprised of hundreds of thousands of Americans in neighborhoods all over the country. Service captains would be there to make sure our communities have the information they need and are ready to respond a crisis, complimenting but not supplanting the work done by police, fire fighters, and other first defenders.

Is he seriously promoting Soviet style BLOCK CAPTIANS?!!!

WTF??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not a draft, but community service. It seems that since the community has been paying for your education for so long, you ought to give something back.

It's a draft, as long as the service is not voluntary.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Militia service was once manaddorty. In fact something like a widespread militia, with the active force and something like the current reserve and guard recruited from that militia. It would consist of some basic training, and then fairly infrequent refresher training. No technical training, other than that required to operate the most basic systems: assault rifles, grenade launchers, maybe up to something like Javelin antitank and stinger anti-air systems. It works for the Swiss, although we'd have to recruit many more of these militiamen to active service.

Of course that would all cost money, money that the Dems would rather give away, and that the Repubs would just as soon not spend at all.

>>It's a draft...not necessarily a bad thing. Militia service was once mandatory.

But this is NOT military service. Military service is to defend the people with an appropriate use of physical force against enemies, or a threat of same. Given a sufficiently grave peril, one could certainly justify a military draft, and it would be temporary, lapsing when the need was gone. You cannot compare civilian community service. The streets always need cleaning; does that mean we should have a permanent draft of citizens into involuntary service cleaning the streets?
