I recorded the debate and began watching it about a half hour after is was over.

Kerry won BULL$HIT ARTIST - hands down!

President Bush did very well, but just didn't seem to have the energy and zeal he normally does.

I think most are saying it was a draw and neither convinced anybody of anything new that they didn't already know about either candidate.

It got so boring I fell asleep at one point and had to rewind.

Your foolishness on the fact and issue is evident.

Having Joe Hadenuf "watch your back" makes you powerless and marginalized.

Congratultions RAT.

I have no idea, really..Kerry has been an ace debater from his youngest years and is used to it in the Senate..The substance of what he says is what I am critiquing here...

W is not as smooth as Kerry.Bush has never been "smooth" except with certain speeches and one on one..I am hoping the town hall venue features his truth and engaging ways...

This debate did show Bush's conviction and exposed Kerry's internationalist v American bias. I think Kerry said some things tonight that will come back to haunt him...He was better at expressing himself than usual, though.I still don't know what his "plan" is that differs from Bush's...

It reminds me of something Jeff Greenfield said many many moons ago on ABC News the night before a presidential election. He said something like: "there are many major issues in this Presidential election, and we as well as every other news outlet have been covering them nonstop. If, after more than a year of campaigning, after all the debates, after all the speeches, after all of it, if you still can't decide who to vote for, then please, for the good of the rest of us, stay home. If after all of that you can't be bothered to form an opinion, just stay home. Go back to sleep."

I also thought that GWB looked very tired.

I didn't think he looked tired. I thought he looked like a fully engaged man who was totally p*ss*d *ff at the deracinated spin coming at him from his opponent, and was just trying to keep it under control.

Mainly I thought he looked disgusted at the cr*p extruding from Kerry's horse face. [BTW, Kerry is (unfortunately) MY senator... and he's thoroughly disgusted me for some 19 years by now, and has given me no reason to change my opinion of him in recent times.] FWIW.

God bless the president: I thought he performed magnificently tonight. Although I do have to say, I checked out Fox for post-debate commentary, and left in disgust after 5 minutes. I couldn't figure out if they had watched the same debate I did.

My main takeaway from the debate tonight is this: Kerry is obviously totally "logic-challenged." Do the math with me here:

(1) He berates President Bush for not adopting a more multilateral strategy in the prosecution of the war in Iraq. Kerry says Bush didn't go to the UN; but clearly Bush in fact went to the UN, and even got a UN sanction (#17) out of the Security Council that, if interpreted according to the plain language and meaning of the UN Charter of 1948, gave the United States a "go-card" in the matter of confronting Sadaam Hussein.

But then, having said the multilateral route is ever the way to go in international "diplomacy" (such that no war need ever be fought ever again anywhere for any reason), he berates President Bush for not turning the multilateral engagement of North Korea into a US - Pyongyang "dialog" -- which would instantly gut the multilateral effort, and probably insult our colleagues China, Japan, South Korea, and Russia into the bargain. (Try getting a party together including those governments anytime soon, for any reason, if Kerry got his way in this.)

Then Kerry waxes eloquent on the joys of cultivating foreign leaders in multilateral cooperation in order to solve world problems. Then what does he do next? He trashes Ayad Allawi -- and Boris Putin!!!

Personally, I think Allawi is evidently a stand-up guy with a constructive vision for his country, who puts his life on the line every day. Not so with Putin, who is, after all, ex-KGB and probably of authoritarian proclivities to boot. Still, Putin is a pretty solid ally in the war on Islamofascism. Kerry absolutely burned Putin tonight.

Next world crisis comes along, and (God forbid!!!) Kerry is president, does anybody reasonably believe that Boris Putin would be warm to sign up to help us, after the public thrashing he got from Kerry tonight?

Like I said, Kerry is totally "logic challenged." I wouldn't trust him to baby-sit my pet cats, let alone to serve as President of the United States, head of state responsible for state diplomacy with other nations, and Commander in Chief of U.S. military forces.

FWIW.

Nobody knows what kerry's plan is because he doesn't have one. How can he have a plan when he hasn't been involved in all the events that have gone down since 9/11? He has no clue what he would do because he would have to respond to situations as they arise. President Bush had no idea he would have to deal with this war when he was running for President. It's silly to say you have a "plan" about anything before you are faced with the problem.

He did not look weak or defensive on the camera shots. He looked like he thought Kerry was BS-ing. Bush was much better in reacting to what Kerry said than Kerry was in reacting to Bush.

So what did you like the best? Bush's stammering and stuttering or his making angry faces while Kerry spoke?

I came into this thinking Bush would clean Kerry's clock, but now admit I was wrong.

And the polls coming back agree. Bush lost this debate.
He should have won!

Watching Kerry reminded me of my dad's phrasing for blowhards:

"If you can't razzle 'em with facts, dazzle 'em with b-------."

I agree with you. Most people expected Bush to be nasty and mean to Kerry but after watching the debate again on C-span--substance on Bush part was great!! Kerry contradicts himself all the time.

In the last half of the debate, IMHO, Bush had the "doesn't anyone have a fly swatter?" look. To me, Kerry looked like a petty and annoying pest. Too bad Reagan already used the "there you go again" line.

Don't bring up the Reagan-Carter debate. Because the last time I say an incumbent look as frustrated and angry as Bush did tonight was when Jimmy Carter debated Reagan. And Reagan won.

Jorge, you have known the president for 4 years+ and you are surprised he stuttered? Listen to what the president had to say--not how he said it.

And as for the facial expression--my, oh, my, Kerry could not stop smiling and at one shot on c-span scratched his nose. The facial expression in my opinion was one of "I can't believe the lies he is saying"!!

You are passing judgement based on a beauty contest--listen to what President Bush said and what Kerry said--global opinion for preemptive strike??? Please, if Kerry danced better does that make him a better president?
