A couple of months ago, we the number of newsfeeds in our Deskpops Interactive Wallpaper to over 70. And the response was incredible. Thousands of news junkies realized they could keep up with the latest news from their favorite conservative sources, right on their desktops...and we mean RIGHT ON THEIR DESKTOPS!
And now we've made a great service even better by adding 40 more news feeds. That's over 100 news sources right at your fingertips!
We've added news from UPI, The Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal, Opinion Journal, CNS News and Lucianne.com.
Plus, you can now find your favorite columnists like Ann Coulter, David Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Joseph Farah, Larry Elder and Michelle Malkin.
And instead of just one Free Republic newsfeed, Deskpops Interactive Wallpaper now offers 15 Free Republic topics, including Breaking News, Front Page News, Chapters, Editorials and more.
We've also beefed up our Blog offerings with names like Powerline, Command Post, Mudville Gazette, Little Green Footballs and a dozen more.
These new feeds are in addition to the existing 70+ news sources already featured on Deskpops, including Newsmax, WorldNetDaily, Steyn Online, The Christian Science Monitor, AP and more.
Deskpops requires a broadband (DSL, Cable Modem, T1, T3) connection and Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP. Deskpops won't slow your computer down or cause any conflicts with your current software. Deskpops contains no spyware and doesn't track any of your movements on the Internet. It works silently in the background, fetching content and bringing it to your desktop. It couldn't be easier, and it couldn't be cooler.
And current users of Deskpops Interactive Wallpaper don't have to do anything, the update happens automatically.
Best of all, it's absolutely free!

It is too bad that it is only for Windows PC's. Leaves us Mac users in the dark.........
I'm afraid, very afraid. Techno-challenged, still donate to FR through snail mail. A dinosaur.
And you use this? Interesting idea.
What the heck, productivity goes up when people are happy, right? Isn't that right?
.
bump for me
According to the FAQ page at the link above, they are going to have a Mac version 'summer 2004'... My watch must be fast
A couple of questions about the wallpaper:
First, is there not a listing for News/Activism
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/browse?ao=1
Second, when I change to wallpaper Freep Breaking, it is a different listing than Breaking on FR.
Don't know about the News/Activism, but the Breaking news listing looks the same on my machine.
On my computer, all the links look and act clickable, but nothing changes after clicking them. My default browser is Mozilla Firefox, does this make a difference?
I just have my modem on my phone line, can I still download this?????
It's not the Firefox that's causing it, because that's my default browser too and it works for me.
Have you considered a user-defined dropdown list?
Im using FireFox...It looks great here..!
I use FF and it all works fine, if there was a way to get rid of the ad at the bottom I would have kept it.
I see a definitely problem here.
It looked like a handy wallpaper
I could change from one site to another in the menus, but when I clicked on a link to read an article, it wouldn't start a browser, or change the page in an already opened browser. I have active desktop checked on Win98, and can't find anything on the FAQ's that helps. If anyone has an idea help would be appreciated, as I've been wanting some type of desktop RSS feed.
Thanks for the feedback
