WHY I THINK THAT JOHN KERRY WON THE DEBATE (Neal Boortz)
Neal Nuze ^ | 10/14/04 | Neal Boortz

WHY I THINK THAT JOHN KERRY WON THE DEBATE You have to judge the winner of a debate on policy based on the expectations and desires of the people observing the debate. If you're debating the pros and cons of abortion before a room full of Catholics, it doesn't matter who does the best job of defending a woman's right to control her own body. The person with the anti-choice position will be the winner ... period.

Last night, as in previous debates, John Kerry did a magnificent job of appealing to people who believe that government is the answer to every problem they face in their lives, whether that problem relates to their job, their health care, or just paying their bills. I believe that the majority of Americans, a slim majority perhaps, but a majority, look to the government for either help or a solution every time. The very idea that they are responsible for solving their own difficulty, and that government's job is to get out of the way so that they can do so, is anathema to the majority of voters. John Kerry appealed to these people last night. That makes him the winner.

"My own parents are sending me letters to get me to vote for Kerry"

Peter Jennings' "Greatest Generation" is also the "Most Socialist" generation.

Using Boortz's reasoning, Kermit the frog would have won the debate if he was the democrat candidate.

Every socialist appeals to these types. So what's new. Boortz' argument here is that there are no "undecideds" out there. And if there are undecideds, they automatically fall into the "socialist" mentality. IMO, he is downright WRONG!

"Of course, Boortz forgot to tell us that his own view of abortion is more important than the fight on terror."

Is that why he constantly talks about the reasons he is going to vote for GWB?

I am as anti-murder as anyone on this thread and I am astounded that the point of the article is lost on many here. The same sheeple, that are sucking the government teat, contain the pro-murder folks. Neal's point is that the teat suckers group has continued to grow and as it gets larger the Kerry voting bloc has grown.

This article is the reason we don't live in a democracy!

I am pro-choice, however, I don't believe government funding should go towards abortion clinics here or overseas. I strongly oppose partial birth abortion. I think that Bush made a good point about reducing the number of abortions. I didn't hear Kerry's "plan" to reduce the number of abortions. Bush said, "I understand there's great differences on this issue of abortion, but I believe reasonable people can come together and put good law in place that will help reduce the number of abortions.....surely there are ways we can work together to reduce the number of abortions: continue to promote adoption laws -- it's a great alternative to abortion -- continue to fund and promote maternity group homes; I will continue to promote abstinence programs."

*Neil Boortz is disgusted by the religious right. He is pro abortion (note: "anti-choice" comment). Anybody who does not believe that he hates pro-lifers has not been listening to him.
*He believes that you are a lower form of life if you are not a millionaire by the time you are 25 yrs old. There IS more to life than money.
*He hates people who own Chevy Camaros(I have a '69 convertible). I'm not sure why. Maybe one ran over his foot or something.
*He despises people with southern accents even though he is from the red neck Riviera, Pensacola, himself. I am too. I do believe he is ashamed of his southern heritage. I am not.
*He has an empty soul. Boortz is also a true jerk. I listen to him but I have no respect for his opinions.
*He does damage to the President by undermining Bush's base. That makes me angrier than anything else. He claims he wants Bush to win then in the next breath totally trashes him. Friends like him are going to be the reason we will all be looking forward to a President Kerry on Nov 3rd.

That's why I never listened to him again since the early '90's......

That inconsistency of values turned me off completely.

BTW, I bet if you called his show today as a man and attempted to dicsuss abortion....He hang up on you....

If Neal is right why then do Conservatives keep winning elections? If this is the case, the Right is never going to win ever again.

Again, I could care less who is the better debater. (Or, as Rush so poetically puts it, the 'Master Debater.') I want a leader, someone who is as good as his word, steadfast and resolute, with character and moral strength, whom we can trust to protect our interests and our homeland. That, my friends, is certainly not how I'd describe John Kerry or his girlfriend, John Edwards.

Agreed. Myself, even if President Bush came out and talked like Sloth (Sloth from the 1985 movie "The Goonies," "Baby... Ruth!!!"), he would still get my vote, most of the time, he does "walk the walk."

What scares me and maybe this is what Boortz is eluding to is there are people out there that can be scared into voting for FrankenKerry because he would continue or expand their favorite government programs. Also, he does appeal to many social conservatives but otherwise FDR fans because he is a Democrat despite his "hippie" philosophy thath as skyjacked the party as Zell Miller pointed out. I do see some people that would vote for Kerry plus there are enough rubes out there that would vote for him because the practitioners of the anti-Bush cult have convinced a certain percentage of them to vote for Kerry because he is "The Anti-Bush."

Abortion is a sacrament to Libertarians.

If this is the case, and who am I to debate it, then Libertarians are NOT REALLY for individual rights, but rather self-serving rights.

..and while we're at it...I am so sick and tired of Kerry and others talking about abortion as a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. Please show me in the Constitution the word abortion. Abortion is an activist Courts misrepresentation of Constitutional Law. It is a self-serving distortion of the original intent of the First and Fourteenth Amendments.

I think smart America realizes now that all talk and no action gets you 9/11.

Now, if we only out number the deaf, dumb, and blind America. We might have a chance.....

Largest tax cut in US History. Real movement towards partial privatization of Social Security. Partial Birth abortion ban

Sorry, your definition of Right needs to have a LOONY put in front of it. Apperently in your world a "RINO" is ANYONE who actually gets things done and "Real Conservatives" are the wackos ranting the proper slogans into microphones who got maybe 1% of the vote last time they ran for office. Sorry, you got it backwards. REAL Conservatives are getting things done every day. Hard Right KOOKS are the ones who rant and rave about "RINOS" all day long while doing NOTHING to actually help us defeat the Hysteric Left.

Early term abortion is a human dilemma

That is the most rationalized statement I've heard. It seeks the convenience of irresponsibility. What exists in the uterus is ALIVE; and what is alive is a human being...plain and simple...No one has the RIGHT or LIBERTY to CHOOSE to MURDER IT!

He offers nothing to back up his belief that he thinks most people want govt handouts. I dont believe that to be true at all.

Obviously you've never watched the call-in segments on C-SPAN.

Evidently he has a low opinion---and a very wrong one not backed up by fact---of Americans and was trying to determine who won based on who they would think won.

Sounds idiotic to me.

Read what he is saying. "If"..... and if you think that government is supposed to do something for you then Kerry is your man. And, there are plenty of folks out there who think this way. He pandered all night.

Early term abortion is a human dilemma, and a free woman is at liberty to make that choice.

A child is a "dilemma"?

This ain't the dog pound, paine.

Boortz is nothing if not provocative. It's why he gets the big bucks. He says a lot of stuff like this to get people thinking and talking.

I dislike his conclusion and disagree with his logic on this one but, I have to admit there are a category of people who act as Boortz describes. Still, when you look objectively at the context of the debate, Kerry continued in form, not answering any questions and repeating the laundry list of his anti-Bush rant. Frankly, I find it somewhat tiresome and lacking in innovation or creativity.

But that's the Democrat Party today.

It's sad, but it's also hard to argue with his logic. After all, when you,,,"rob Peter to pay Paul, you can COUNT ON PAUL'S SUPPORT"!

Kerry is pushing class warfare and the 'stupids' are sucking it up.

35 years of substandard education in our public schools has turned out an inferior product... a citizen lacking in the basics of economics, history, science and most of all... dicipline.

Predictably, the masses watch TV shows dealing with 'wife-swapping', scripted, 'artificial-reality', breast-enhancement and self-humiliation.

We have created a proletariat of self-indulgent, adult/children... less able to see the challenges before them and lacking the knowledge... and even the resolve to address them.
