It's just a A3 bag that the line is stowed in and can be weighted in high winds when dropped from the helicopter to keep it from flying up into the tail rotors......
What about weapons in this configuration? I don't see any provision for anything other than a pistol, no long weapons. Seems to me that you'd get to your destination extremely pumped up - like having taken a bottle of Viagra - but that wouldn't help too much on most objectives. (Unless being inserted into a brothel, no pun intended.)
They're rough. I'm at the far end of a very long run of copper that gets up to 26kbps on a dry day. Did I mention I'm in Seattle...?
Um. Any member of Miss Rika's WFTD class on FR would appreciate the humor in this.
"osculation" means kissing. So don't try to be James Bond and you'll be just fine!
The word you want, I suspect, is "oscillation."
I'm south of Tacoma out toward Mt Rainier in the boonies and my modem gets 44 - 48 kb/sec. How come you get such low speed up there?
It's not where you are, but where you are in relation to (exchange? repeater? station?). When I say I'm at the end of a long range of copper (telephone wire) I mean it. A friend who used to work in telephony tells me that we live at just about the maximum range.
All yer gear is attached to "you" so you have a primary point of connection and a safety "cheater" strap. They are just wearing the harness vs a load bearing vest under the harness. Some of the older vests we used had the harness built in. I did this a few times at Ft Story VA and then during my career never needed it again......
"The EOD Team was flown over San Diego harbor during a demonstration, known as "spy-rigging," an evolution used by the Navy and Marine Corps for hasty placement and extraction in hostile areas".
It's actually a SPIE (Special Purpose Insertion Extraction) Rig. Good times....Good times....
Primarily a means of extraction. You think that looks barf-o-rama, you should try AIRBORNE!!
Ah - to be 18 again and go for EOD training.
I was "loosely" attatched to EOD Unit 2 as an "underwater swimmer" when they would join us on our Minesweepers - out of Little Creek VA. circa 1960.
We didn't even dream of stuff like this.
Thanks - and my DSL did not choke on it...
What ?!?!? You must be crazy....only thing that falls from the sky is pigeon shit an fools !!!....:o)
5 point JMPI's, PAB's, Black hats and riggers oh my.....Full bag of air and thin at that makes for a PLF ending flat on yer back !!
I'd neeeeever do that ............!
Stay safe !!
SPIES bump
OMG.
I get a nosebleed on a step ladder.
I think whatever's left of Ned.
I can't take this.....I get vertigo just looking at my floor from my bed.
The guy on the end of the rope: "Happy thoughts... Happy thoughts... Happy thoughts... Happy thoughts... Happy thoughts... Happy thoughts... Happy thoughts... "
Very cool.
Thanks.
