Activist filmmaker Michael Moore is not coming to Memphis today after all.
State Rep. Kathryn Bowers, chairman of the Shelby County Democratic Party, said Moore's "rally the troops" speech set for today was canceled because Moore was "ill with the flu" and because she was concerned about "security issues" involving a possible Republican Party protest.
However, Moore's Friday night speech at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas was scheduled to go on as planned; and he is still scheduled to speak tonight at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Bowers cited an E-mail sent out Monday by local Republican Party chairman Kemp Conrad as cause for concern. In the E-mail, Conrad called the rally "a hateful and partisan event."
The E-mail asked Republicans to gather in protest outside the Democratic rally, but Conrad said Friday he had called off the protest, deciding it was better to ignore Moore.
The hastily arranged Moore appearance -- one of the few free events on the filmmaker's tour -- was announced Oct. 7.
Even without Moore, Bowers said, the rally will go on as scheduled at 1 p.m. today at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 2237 S. Parkway East. She said the speakers will include state Rep. Henri Brooks and House Speaker Pro Tem Lois DeBerry. A ticket is no longer required.
Ill with the flu? Gee I hope he doesn't have one of those former Soviet Union leader type sicknesses. </sarcasm>
Not exactly a Michaelangelo...more like his namesake Henry I think.
The flu is somehow going to get better between the daytime speech and the evening speech? I don't think so. Something else is up.
Sounds like he got a case of the 'its. Chicken 'its.
Like all dims, they can dish it, but can't take it.
because she was concerned about "security issues" involving a possible Republican Party protest.
>she was concerned about "security issues" involving a possible Republican Party protest. <
Aww, she's concerned the protesters might have factual information, and show the sheeple what a fraud Saint Lumpy actually is?
Too many poor African American people in Memphis. Not enough idle rich, white trust fund babies.
I'm surprised though that his big fat, corpulent, gluttonous white ass is passing up the good ribs and BBQ in Memphis
Sounds like fatboy is in hiding! L0L
Moore is intimidated by us..... get it ...... every where he plans to go ...... attack them and him about it ..... he will run and hide...... he is from hollywood.... yellow hollywood.....
?
You don't want to know.

Fatty just had pneumonia a week ago. He'll be lucky if he doesn't kill himself trying to unseat our President.
It would be great to protest him at future rallies with a poster of his puppet-self from the Team America movie!!
There's your answer.
Don't worry - he'll have his people arrange for a FedEx shipment of 4 slabs of Corky's dry rubs and 2 quarts of beans.
Wonder why captain Fata$$ didn't get a flu shot. He's got to qualify as 'high risk' being the overweight card carrying sodomite that he is.
I think you are right. Look at what happened at the convention. He didn't like it that people knew where he was seated. His spokesman said he wouldn't return because it was their understanding he would be placed somewhere behind the scenes where he could "work."
Boo-hoo,,he cannot stand the light of day...like most cockroaches.
Moore confrontation!
Naw, Moore isn't sick....there was a doughnut shortage.
He must have seen "Team America" and what happens to him in it, and he freaked out.
