Unfortunately, Byrd shovels so much pork back to WV that he practically owns the state. He won't go unless he decides to leave (or mother nature does it for him). Even if we wanted to challenge him, there's really no one with the stature to match Byrd. He's like a king there.

He'll only be taken out by the Grim Reaper.

What do you think about South Dakota?

Erlich or Steele can beat Sarbanes.
Blackwell can beat Dayton.
A lot of Republicans can win in W. Virginia.
Might Mass. be ready for another Romney run?
Florida could be interesting with the right candidate.
How about DiFi vs Arnold in CA?
Hillary quits in 2006 to start a run for Pres. Hello Rudy or Pataki.

If we get to 55 in 2004, I think 2006 will be lots of fun.

A lot of Republicans can win in W. Virginia. if Byrd doesn't run.

California? Don't tell me Jones has suddenly erased the huge lead Boxer has.

So, OK, it's "potentially competative" senate races. Didn't copy and paste the URL and see what the article actually was about.

Feingold won't have coattails. There are actually a few yards around here with Bush and Feingold signs.

"What do you think about South Dakota?"

I am hoping and praying that Thune wins, of course!!

I am guessing he wins. in 2004, Bush is at the top of the ballot and some of those Republican farmers have got to think about how unhelpful Daschle has been to Bush...

but I really dont know more than you and the RCP poll average which is like 49% - 49%.

My prediction as of tonight is that Thune will win by 442 votes in the wee hours of the morning.

Byrd can't live forever (or can he?)... Shouldn't theyhave an age limit? You know 65?

Ain't gonna happen. He hasn't campaigned, and is double digits behind in the polls. We're looking at another six years of Barbara Box-o-rocks.

What have you got against those over 65?

Not a thing if they haven't been on congress forever. They cost a fortune in retirement benefits... and sometimes it's the only way to get rid of people like Robert Byrd...

I can't see Coors winning here in Colorado. He just comes across so poorly in live addresses and debates because he is so completely uninformed on the issues.

A big "thank you" to Bill Owens and the GOP "losership" here in CO for undermining a solid conservative, Bob Schaffer, in favor of a political neophyte based on nothing other than name recognition.

Ken Salazar comes across as just what he is: a moderate, centrist Democrat. Pretty much Ben "Nighthorse" Campbell with a Hispanic lineage rather than Native American.

Not to be a pessimist, but I honestly think that Salazar is going to win this one.
