The bodies of 49 Iraqi army soldiers have been found near the town of Baquba, north-east of Baghdad, according to police. The bodies were laid out in four rows with about 12 bodies in each row, Gen Walid Al-Assawi, commander of the Diyala provincial police, has said.

"After inspection, we found out that they were shot after being ordered to lie down on the earth," he said.

Thirty-seven bodies were found on Saturday, and another 12 on Sunday.

I assume this is recent killings. When any American says this is OUR war against Iraq, just tell them that it's Iraqis who are dying for freedom.

Ultimately we are going to have to start getting nasty to exterminate the last of these 'nuisances,' as a major American politician might call them.

Executed by Saddaams holdouts and their terrorist allies, I guess?

How sad.
These regions where the baathist holdouts and their terrorist allies, need to be 'pacified' big time. I don't know that we can wait that much longer to flatten resistance in regions like fallujah and sadr city.

It's not a quagmire. It DOES need to be finished.

These 49 apparently were willing to die for their family's freedom. It's past time to make the freedom haters die for their belief system. And not just one or two at a time.

Frankly when I read it I was mortified. We are doing so much to help those in Iraq have a better life and the insurgents (and other evil) just keep on killing and causing havic, it is terrible.

Some of these men just graduated from training by our military so they could defend their country and now they are dead. I pray for those who died and their families.

I have not found anything to say it was pre war. In other words it seems it is the newly taught soldiers. It is breaking we can post more as it becomes available.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes.

"I have not found anything to say it was pre war. In other words it seems it is the newly taught soldiers."

Reports are definitely sketchy. But, one source says the soldiers were rounded up as they left their station for leave, then were lined up on the ground to be executed.

Trust the BBC to report this with a smirk. It would be nice to hear the good things the Iraqi's have going for them...the very reason why these murderous creeps are desperately killing Arabs/Iraqi's. A dying snake is still dangerous.

Expect more violence and attempts at terror, both in Iraq and here in the US through November 2nd.

The Islamofascists know that if GW Bush i re-elected, they will eventually be hunted down and made to face justice.

Their panic-driven and desperate actions remind me of Bill Clinton launching cruise missiles when Monica testified to the Grand Jury and when the House voted on Impeachment.

New rules: Take NO Prisoners (TNP), the enemy is not human and does not deserve to be treated as such.

These monsters make the SS look like Mother Teresa, and will not tell us anything (not with American methods and the MSM and ACLU worried about "their" rights) or be "rehabilitated", so why bother?

Perhaps if we allowed the Iraqi National Guard or the Kurds to do the questioning, away from prying eyes...?

This is a sad event. However the MSM & Liberals can only carry this so far because they are not US troops. There was a report that a US diplomat was killed today. Now this they will try to spin for the next 10 days or so.

What gets me, is that Kerry ,The MSM and Democrats are giving aid & comfort to are enemies in Iraq, like they did in Vietnam and about 20%-30% of the American people either don't care, anybody but Bush or think its are fault. The only time these people will take a stand against the Islamic/Fascists if thery are directly attack. That is really pathetic.

"Watch to see how Kerry and the slimey Dems. treat this story today!"

"This is Dan Rather with breaking news. 49 soldiers have been killed by freedom fighters in Iraq. George Bush did nothing to stop them. We will have exclusive details on tonight's CBS News."

I'm serious... would bet real money that the victims' nationality will be barely mentioned.

How many "insurgents" does it take to capture, control and systematically execute 49 armed men?
