Appeal for help: devil's advocates needed
10/29/04 | myself

Posted on 10/29/2004 1:07:39 PM PDT by Ippolita

Dear Freepers All,

Again I turn to you for help.

I am working with GOP Republicans' Abroad Italy in the 2004 election race.

I am official spokesperson and will be speaking publicly on the night of the 2nd.

I have been told that I will also have to deal with the PRESS.

SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE (Oh! Horror and Cringe!).

So I need to be prepared for enemy fire. I need combat training ;).

Please Freepers: post questions you think the international press will be asking, post evil, cowardly, indecent, under-the-belt, questions you think the liberals may throw at me, especially questions on the internal situation/economy/jobs/health/social security/education/etc.

AND if you have REALISTIC ideas PLEASE feel free to post your answers as well.

I realize this last request could turn into great fun, but as I'm working round the clock untill Nov. 2nd I have very few energies left.

Try to be truly incisive. Save the jokes for after we carry the day.

Remember: I cannot be abusive to the press, I'm speaking OFFICIALLY; also remember that by sheer chance I WILL BE SPEAKING FOR ALL OF YOU TOO, so let's hear you!

Thanks in advance for any help that comes my way through you, and, as I did last time, I will post my full speech and the Q&A that have actually been posed and answered as soon as I have them.

God Bless America and W-2004

"Remember: I cannot be abusive to the press"

You can't but a chimp can. Bring one with you and have it hurl it's own feces at them.

So you expect that they will actually ask questions about domestic U.S. policy versus all Iraq all the time? I'm asking seriously.

One question they will likely ask, "Why didn't you invite Freeper poster DTogo to be here in Italy with you?"

Send me a ticket, I'll fly right over! :)

Ciao

All their bias about Iraq comes down to: "Bush should have trusted Saddam- to obey the UN, to keep arms away from terrorists, to make the trains run on time (good for an Italian audience eh?)..."

Oh yeah, picture them without their clothes on.

One thing I hear on the BBC all the time is the constant calling Iraq a disaster. You need to be prepared for that question or comment. Put Iraq in a historical perspective. One comment I use on dem comrades all the time is:

Name any war where we accomplished so much, with so little loss of US life, in so little time, while preserving so much of the country?
The put comparisons to US lives lost liberating Italy in WW2.

Tell them that unlike JOHN KERRY, President Bush RESPECTS the Italian military and honors their service.

Can anybody ressurrect the exact quote of Kerry 2 weeks ago about the Italians?

Italy, a nation that has bled for Iraq, is smarting anew over an old Kerry slap broadcast on Italian television this week. "The Iraqi army," Mr. Kerry said before the war, "is in such bad shape, even the Italian army could kick their butts."

There it is.

You will find that the europress gets its info from the U.S. liberal press and that every question will hinge on a false premise or assumption. Be prepared for a lot of "When will Bush stop beating his wife?"
Listen for the assumption and address that first. In many cases, the question will have no relevance once the assumption is dispatched.
Challenge their beliefs and force them to ask questions that have no preconceptions.
Have fun.

First, acknowledge and praise the Italian troops for their service in Iraq.

I would say that just know the facts (and latest news) about the explosives.

If Abu Garib is mentioned, make sure you place the blame on the INDIVIDUALS that commited the crimes and that they will be dealt with according to US military law.

On WMD's: Acknowledge that there were none at the time the US invade, but also let them know that there WERE WMD's because Saddam used them to kill thousands.

Talk about how people are now free to disagree without being murdered. The women are free from being raped by Saddam's sadistic sons. Mention that since the fall of Saddam literally tens of thousands of victims have been found in mass graves.

Stay on the positives like in 2002 Saddam spent $15 million on healthcare for the entire nation and the US spent $q BILLION in the first year, innoculating millions. Schools are now open, people are working, things are GOOD in Iraq despite the terrorists who are only interesting in murdering their way into heaven.
