After getting folks all across the country on Free Republic and blogland excited and raring to go to D.C. for some reason or another having to do with John Kerry, Navy Chief has announced a NO GO.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have been asked by the highest authorities (No -- I will not expound) to not hold this Rally.
Although our actions and intent has been nothing but honorable, this effort will not serve our purposes.
My sincerest apologies for this but I must ask that we stand down...
I certainly hope the "highest authorities" know what they are doing and I don't like this anymore than anyone else but I must ask you to stand down.
We can however, return to our previous effort in getting the truth to media outlets, Congress, and other influencial organizations.
This was a great idea and I'm very disappointed -- I hope you will forgive me for this. I'm assured that all will be clear in time (yeah right).

_________________ Working with Senator Kerry four years in the POW/MIA Office left me thinking -- when did the man ever do any work?
This guy claims to be associated with the Swift Vets; I think he posts on their boards.
Yesterday he called a press conference/rally for Sunday; we got all those "October Surprise" "We've Found Him" threads, speaking, I suppose of somebody who could actually prove it.
Now, by his own words, he says he's been warned off by "higher authorities."
Since he's been pretty vagues on facts -- time, locations, speakers, etc. -- it's hard to say what he thought he had and now doesn't have.
First NavyChief said on his Swft Vets thread that he had proof about Kerry's less than honorable discharge. He promised a bombshell. Then he had his thread pulled. Then he came up with this last minute rally idea. Then he went to bed last night with everything up in the air. 11 hours later he finally posted at the Swift Vets site saying the rally was called off, and offered no further developments or evidence regarding Kerry's discharge, but still had vague promises that some shoe would drop eventually.
Let Bin Laden's endorsement of Kerry stay in the spotlight.
There are others as well Yatch Man who motivate me. Some of them may not even be born yet. I am concerned about posterity, and the fate of the world. Kerry is a scumbag of the highest order.
Kerry betrayed the Troops he served with and his country, and he continues to do so even now. I believe that our entire way of life is in jeopardy if this asshole ever gets the helm of another ship.
I do not care for this high road crap. A spade needs to be called a spade. Kerry is a treacherous self serving POS and he has been given cover by the media for decades. The current Administration should have slammed him much harder than they have.
Perhaps they in the campaign are privy to polling data which we will not ever know of. Personally, I have no time for polls, and despite a bit of knowledge concerning statistics and probabilty, and polling techniques, I simply can not and will not ever accept polling as an exact science which can be relied upon.
Only the truth is relevant in these affairs. The truth is that Kerry is a liar, a gigolo, an illogical pretender, and he is not very bright no matter what the old media says. Good grief the media said that Al Gore was a genius four years ago.
I simply must stop ranting. This stuff is unhealthy for me. God please help us all through the next few days.
Now that we can agree on.
It has nothing to do with the Swifties, imo.
In the sense that they have now told him to quiet down, for whatever reasons, it does have something to do with them.
My question exactly. On Jan. 19, 2001, Clinton signed scads of pardons; the notorious Marc Rich and some drug dealers got the press. Who were the others? All the others?
I'm not so sure about that. Interest in a book about Kerry hinges on the election - if, Lord willing, he loses, no one will care about JFK II any more. No one outside Massachusetts, anyway. Who would have bought a tell-all Mondale book after his loss in 84? How would a Dukakis book have sold in 1989?
Assuming that Navy Chief expects the President to be reelected (and I'm betting that he does), I don't think that this is his motivation.
Bump
"I didn't hear John O'Neill say anything about a rally."
I never said he did.
BUT he agrees, on national radio,
that Kerry had a less than honorable discharge.
Considering John O'Neill is a lawyer
he would not have said that unless there was proof.
So I guess NavyChief was right about the info
but mabe wrong about the rally.
Please ask NavyChief yourself.

It's my understanding that NavyChief discovered this North Vietnamese document, among others:
that is where you are wrong, Howlin. NavyChief NEVER suggested he spoke for the Swiftvets! In fact, when the rally was discussed it was suggested that the Swiftvets and POW's would be invited to attend! You have jumped off half-cocked on this notion of who is involved. Where ever did you get the notion that NavyChief spoke for anyone other than Navy Chief??? When you speak, are you speaking for JimRob?
The master of non-responsive answers should know, eh?
SHUT UP!
FGS
Phooey on the highest authorities! They are usually wrong!!
given the ubl video, probably a good idea to call this off. this was a great cause, but the vided has all but sealed the victory for bush. besides, why put freepers and others at risk just in case...
Howlin, you are one of my favorite posters here but it seems it would be better to scratch our heads rather than judge at this point. The Swift Boat Vets have put out more solid information than I could have ever imagined when they first formed and we see how they were treated by the media.
We don't know what this man has, what was being examined when he made his first post or what has transpired since. It seems to me that a 19 page thread was allowed to stand on SBV forum for a long time before being closed. We don't know what happened or why. What I have learned from posters like Tonk though, is who deserves the benefit of any doubt.
OOOPS. I meant post # 128 at this link:
