This is what was involved in the OH GOTV effort!
Montgomery County Bush/Cheney 04 Campaign Wrap Up | 11/03/04 | LS

Posted on 11/03/2004 10:23:27 AM PST by LS

This from our chairman:

"On Election Day we made 60,000 calls in Montgomery County all focused on getting-out-the-vote. Altogether over the four days prior to the election plus on Election Day, Montgomery County Bush-Cheney volunteers made almost 140,000 get-out-the-vote calls.

This was far beyond a record effort. It's almost impossible to believe, but we had 300 phone bank volunteers calling on Election Day out of private homes, and we had 80 to 90 phone bankers calling on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday before Election Day at our three phone banks.

Bush-Cheney Campaign analyzed each and every Ohio county months ago and determined the campaign vote goals for all 88 Ohio counties. Montgomery County's President Bush vote goal was 125,000 votes. We delivered 133,000 votes -- so we exceeded the goal by over 6%."

In 2000, Gore carried Mont. Co. by 5000 votes. Kerry only got 3500!

"We had over 800 volunteers working all day on Election Day. We had phone bankers, walkers, drivers, precinct vote flushers, Victory Center staff and support people, volunteers to take voters to vote, errand runners, database updaters, computer support people, media relations people ... and all of you volunteered your valuable time and terrific talents. And you were not paid a cent unlike most of the Kerry volunteers who were disguised as 527 organization workers. In Ohio, 3-1/2 million calls were made to get R voters out to vote. This compares to 600,000 calls made in 2000. Without Montgomery County, the Miami Valley went to President Bush by 30 points -- a huge landslide.

BTW, does any Ohioan know what the heck was up with that weird candidate that got several thousand votes in one county?

Every single one of these people should be given a free ticket to a special Bush-Cheney Inaugural Ball. I stand in awe of what they accomplished.

I'm curious to see the returns from Clark County after the Guardian UK tried to sway them with that stupid GOTV editorial.

Time to gear up for 2006.

If we have this GOTV effort every election, we'll control the country.

Dunno bout that canidate but I know several of my buddies actually took the day off yesterday to help out at GOp headquaters and at polling places yesterday in Montgomery COunty.

I had the feeling after seeing the big turnout and seeing so many churchmembers in the voting places that W would win Ohio.

Just remember to always have faith. Thanks for your hard work!!

Congrats and thank you !!!

I know how hard each of you worked - I did the same here in Western PA (alas we couldn't overcome Fast Eddie's bag of dirty tricks in Philly)

Thanks for this post. I'm traveling and stopped to use a library computer to look for just this information. We're forever in the debt of you Ohioans for understanding the stakes and putting forth a magnificent effort.

I would like to thank all of you who worked so hard to get out the vote in Montgomery Co. You really did win this election for the President.
I was looking at the county list last night on SOS site when it was still up for grabs.
When I saw that there was alot of SW Ohio still to come.
I knew then we had Ohio.

Again thanks for your superb effort.

I think GOTV efforts might have gone into overkill. I got 3 automated GOTV calls in the last week of the election, I'd already voted early, but with no live person I couldn't even tell them I'd voted so stop bothering me.

The automated calls were NOT the 72-hour program. Our program was for personal contact---face-to-face, if possible. Besides, if you voted early, we picked that up on our first "flush" and you would NOT have gotten a call.
