As I said before, I will not back a pro-abortion Presidential candidate.

As a Floridian, I'm a huge Jeb! fan, but I do fear the "dynasty" thing may be too much for some. Not so sure about Condi, either - historically, intellectuals have a tough time in presidential races, e.g. Stevenson, Goldwater, Gore (though the latter was more of an overeducated idiot).

I'm surprised that in almost 200 posts, no one has mentioned Elizabeth Dole. She has a fairly solid background - cabinet secretary, senator, Red Cross president. She has been through the scrutiny of a presidential campaign before. She's a gifted speaker - remember her Oprahesque speech at the '96 convention? And if Hillary is the ultimate opponent, she would match up very, very well...

Dole was truly a feminist pioneer; I remember her saying she was one of the first five or so women at Harvard Law School. Clinton, in contrast, was one of the baby boomer lemmings of the 60s. Dole was the first female transportation secretary before being elected Senator; Clinton merely rode her husband's coat tails as First Lady. I think it would be easy to draw a contrast between Clinton as a talker and Dole as a doer.

Besides, Americans could begin to atone for the wrongs of 1996 by making Bob Dole, not Slick Willie, our first "First Man."

The 1st time I heard Michael Steele was the convention (I was going to pick him on this thread, too). He was VERY impressive! I'll take him over Obama any day.

I saw Allen today, too. FOX was talking to him and suggested he might run.

I want to learn more about him. He came off very well.

But yeah, skeletons... no DUI, right? RIGHT?!? ; )

After Tuesday, yes. I was a poll worker, and could only get updates via cellphone from my husband and then my son. My mother in law came in to vote, and I asked her how it was going (that was about 3:30) and she just looked around to see who was listening, and then shook her head. I didn't know it was getting any better until I got home after 8:00. That was a roller coaster of a day. Glad it's over.

Do you think JC could be a good president? I ask because he's not been a governor. I'm just wondering if he has the executive experience.

I agree, though, that he would be a fabulous candidate.

I'm from Midland Texas. I have grown up under Bush and Hutchinson.

I could accept it as fate but I would like to see the net cast a little farther out.

Again, if the RIGHT to life gets settled as a constitutional matter (in the Supreme Court) it would trump "privacy" and the issue of "pro-choice" becomes moot.

Did anyone think that sodomy would become a constitutional right by 2003 especially in the midst of a domestic war?

If you still think that the Supreme Court only ruled on "equal protection" why can't states outlaw sodomy for BOTH sexes? If you think that they approved sex acts between consenting adults in private why is incest and prostitution still illegal? Why is sodomy now legal for minors (over the age of consent, within the Romeo & Romeo exception age, or even both participants underage), so much for consenting ADULTS. Does the government have a say in the financial transaction that occurs when you hire a baby sitter? Is "extramarital fornication" still a crime?

SODOMY was made a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT whether we want to accept the judicial tyranny or not.

First, judges do not interpret the constitution. They write it. If President Bush were to appoint judges who'd overturn Roe, President Giuliani would appoint judges who would reinstate it.
