Yeah, like Molly Ivins comes off as "authentic".
The Slave Party has no shame.
So we are to believe that the democrats are going to send out a midwestern, cowboy hats and boots. Humm sounds like they are looking for another GWB.
I agree completely..southwestern part of France is lovely..great beaches..Cannes...temperate climate...great food and wine..Dems definitely should explore it..
Big oversight in this article - a a higher percentage of the Christian Right vote went to Salazar over "Coors" (as compared to other races) due to the big time beer connection and the fact that Coors beer has recently sponsored "gay" celebrations
Wrong again.
Dims should look to the East.
Like France, Germany, Belgium ... well you get the idea. ;)
I actually think the analysis is correct. If they want to win, the Dems will have to run a candidate that plays well somewhere besides the NE and West Coast. They have a MUCH better chance of flipping the SW states than the Deep South. They would also have to run a more moderate candidate... which is a good thing for everyone.
The question is, will a candidate like that make it out of the primaries? They will probably nominate Hillary and watching her go down in flames and taking down the Dem party as we know it will be a beautiful thing to behold.
The Southwest is made up of alot of GOP refugees from CA. Most of the new DL's in CO are from CA I believe
All this immigration is causing problems. Why, why, why do our Republican leaders tolerate it?
It looks to me like Senator Salazar could be the VP candidate on the Dem ticket nest time.
Fox & Friends Weekend this morning ran a clip from David Letterman when he was musing that autumn is "the time of year when all the states turn red."
On the other hand, we were highly competitive in the Upper Midwest. Outside of Illinois, we had a real chance to win every Midwestern state. If we can continue to attract white Catholic votes in the Midwest, we won't need the Southwest to win.
So the Democrats think they can win next time by taking states like Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico. Never mind that President Bush made significant inroads in the upper midwest in states like Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan for a Republican, and also he come close in Pennsylvania. Before the Dems start thinking about expanding their base they might want to defend some of their usual strongholds in the midwest and parts of the northeast because those are areas of growing GOP support.
Agreed! What an insult to the American people that smoke and mirrors, not truth of character and belief, is enough to win them over.
[OOOpps..forgot about Klinton]
People in Red Counties and States are not gonna vote for somebody that, intelectually, is a little light in his loafers.
So9
Well --- it worked for Clinton. I think one of Kerry's problems is that he was actually too honest. He came right out and admitted he would put the USA under control of the UN -- world government and that the taxpayers would be forced to pay for abortions. Clinton was a little slicker --- he intended to do the same but was a liar.
this is the Dems electoral plan for 2008 - all the Kerry states (252) + NM,NV,AZ (with Richardson on the ticket) gives 19 more, 271 total.
take it to the bank, that is their strategy. not that it will be successful mind you, but to deny them this, we need to take away WISC or MINN.
Teresa dressed like her clothes were out of a shleppers catalog
Well, looks like they are going to run Ann Richards from Texas in 2008 then.
