WASHINGTON The Pentagon is investigating the fatal shooting of a wounded enemy fighter in Iraq by a U.S. Marine that was captured on videotape.
The shooting happened during fighting in Fallujah (search) at a mosque between insurgents and Marines (search) from the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, according to unidentified embedded reporters and the Pentagon.
The Marines from that regiment came under fire by rebel forces stationed at the mosque on Friday, and U.S. forces responded by launching machine-gun and tank strikes, according to reports from the field. Ten insurgents were killed and five wounded in the fighting, FOX News has learned.
The following day, another set of Marines from the same unit engaged in a battle at the same mosque after observing movement inside. An embedded correspondent reported seeing fresh gunshot wounds on those injured the previous day.
During the second-day operation, one of the Marines came upon a wounded insurgent lying on the floor. On the tape, Marines wielding machine guns are seen going into the mosque and approaching a couple of Iraqi fighters lying on the floor. One of the Marines is heard repeatedly shouting, Hes faking hes dead!
The Marine then apparently fired a single shot into the wounded mans head which was heard and caught on videotape but blacked out when the tape was aired. A voice can be heard saying, Hes dead now."
Shooting an unarmed, wounded combatant is considered a violation of the rules of war.
.....snip..........
Insurgents have also been known to rig dead bodies with explosive devices that go off when U.S. troops approach.

nope - didn't forget.
See #s 6 & 7 in my post, regarding fake surrenders.
or - maybe you meant that I just didn't mention white flags - I just assumed that would be understood.
Thanks for the comments. Like you said, it bears repeating constantly if that's what it takes. I agree completely.
The entire war winning process would have been as easy as squeezin' ketchup! But I'm too busy right now flip-flopin' my presidential loss... otherwise I'd lay it all out for you so you could drool over the simplicity of it all.
I call it KERRyORISM !!!
.
Where was the camera guy when the terrorists were butchering the blonde woman?
oops my bad, I was just being specific to the white flag trickery.
(saddams tankers did the same thing in the first gulf war. They put their tanks in a surrendure posture with the guns pointed to the back, then when they were in range they swung around and TRIED to start shooting at the alies)
This report appears to be unrelated to issue at hand. The Fallujah event involved a 3/1 Marine.
Where is the interest of the amnesty organizations with regard to the slaughter of the people who have been beheaded? I don't see them rushing in to make those terrorists stand tall!
Buy that man a Miller. End of story.
>So What. ? It's a COMBAT AREA. ..... Hello.!!!
...like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500.

if a marine shoots a terrorist in this combat situation a charge of murder is like handing out speeding tickets at the indy 500.
GODSPEED!
1. ask him if he wants a cigarette? 2. apologize for thinking he was dead? 3. call up the chain of command for orders? 4. ask the reporter for his recommendations? 5. blow the #(*&^%@* terrorist's head off. 6. Form a committee. 7. Make sure you win all 3 debates. 8. Make sure it passes the global test. 9. Have the boys in psychology run a profile on him. 10. Cream or sugar?
Now, if he'd played french and surrendered, then I'd have a problem with shooting him. But the marines made the judgement that he was a threat, and the benefit of the doubt should go to them.
