I went to see the magical "Pericles'' at the Shakespeare Theater the other night.
In ancient Greece, the prince of Tyre tires of all the yes men around him. He chooses to trust the one courtier who intrepidly tells him: "They do abuse the king that flatter him. ... Whereas reproof, obedient and in order, fits kings, as they are men, for they may err.''
Not flatter the king? Listen to dissenting viewpoints? Rulers who admit they've erred?

Typical Mo Dowd. The verbal equivalent of the Oliphant cartoon.

Wow! Mike Douglas looks worse than Mo Dowd in that shot. Although, he's entirely too reptilian to qualify as a toad, per se.

Ahh the charmed life of Mo Dowd. Going to the theater, gallavanting with the rich and famous, publishing her crackpot theories.
And yet she's still an embittered, nasty person. Sad.

"Not only are the Bush officials who failed to protect the country and misled us into war not losing their jobs. They're getting promoted. "
Maureen, two points.
One, they have protected the nation, and they did not mislead anyone.
Two, there is not a damned thing you can do about them getting promoted.

Don't confuse poor Mo Dowd with logic. It hurts her head, which is already badly swollen.

How does MO keep her job? Do people really think she is all that??

(1) The President of the USA is not a king. Miss Dowd seems to have missed the whole point of the War of Independence. I'm not surprised.
(2) The role of the Cabinet is to implement policy.
The role of courtiers was to use their skills in fencing, conversation, musicianship, etc. to get noticed by the monarch so the monarch would take them into his confidence and arrange a good marriage or a land grant for them.

Does she have an original thought in her head? She's always a week behind the conventional wisdom.
