U.S. Troops Fire on Iraqi Protesters, Leaving 15 Dead
April 29, 2003
FALLUJAH, (Before we knew the town as we know it now) Iraq, April 29 — American soldiers shot dead what hospital officials said were 15 people at an anti-American rally here late on Monday. Accounts of the incident, which occurred on Saddam Hussein's birthday, varied widely today: Iraqis said the soldiers opened fire, unprovoked, while the soldiers said they were fired on first and then responded with a careful counter-attack.
Residents said at least 65 other people were injured in the incident at a school.

Perhaps you better watch it again. The soldiers had their guns in hand with the barrels pointed towards the crowd. They were not firing, but your statement is false.
You assume too much. The vidoe does not show French troops shooting at those victims.

U.S. Central Command said the demonstrators fired on the soldiers with AK-47s and the soldiers fired back fired in self-defense.
Some demonstrators told CNN's Karl Penhaul the soldiers fired first. Others said residents threw rocks at soldiers when tempers flared. (On the Scene: Karl Penhaul)
One U.S. Army Sergeant said he just shot at what he saw. "And what I saw was targets," he said. "Targets with weapons and they were going to harm me. It's either them or me and I took the shot, sir, and I'm still here talking to you."
A second U.S. soldier said the clash began when some of the protesters started throwing rocks at the soldiers and others started chanting.
"Then others joined in throwing rocks and others brought weapons to the party," the soldier said. "Then they started firing them -- not just into the air but toward the soldiers on top of the buildings."
U.S. troops pulled out of the school late Tuesday night.

Chirac has basicly become a joke, when it comes to western leaders. His nation has managed itself into a serious problem with it's moslem imports. The anti-Semitism existing in France is a would-class disgrace. The anti-American rhetoric is shockingly ignorant. We rescued France's ass exactly the same way we are rescuing the Iraqis. France, above all nations should understand this. That it doesn't, reflects so poorly on them that little I could say against them would damn them nearly as bad as their own actions.
The French revel in damning us. I'm just not going to adopt French ways to score points against them unreasonably.
I am a citizen of the United States. I try to treat other nations reasonably when it comes to serious issues. As much as the French deserve to have their ass handed to them, I don't want to accuse them of an attrocity unless it's very well documented.
Perhaps some enlightened French citizen will read this and glean a clue from it.
