Late in the film you see troop transports driving away, flying the tircolor, but no indication they did the shooting, they weren't even in a particularly defensive posture. (Not helmets, no rifles brandished).

There are 4 videos and 9 jpgs in the parent directory. They suggest a sniper was the shooter. The jpgs were taken in the sniper's room and show French Marine gear and suggestions of drug use. The sniper's bullets shown could certainly blow someone's head off as was shown in the video.

By asking someone to provide certain types of information, you can cause them to discover for themselves that certain types of information was not available. If those types of information were not available, then certain premises might not be as rock solid as they had first thought.

I don't believe this is video hot of the press. Your mention of the protest signs is yet another clue that this may not be what some thought it was upon first light.

Immaterial...by this frame the shooting has stopped. This man is the main shooter and he was shooting from the left side of the pole by the arrow.

Watch the "second" (really the first) video, clearly the French troops are shooting at something at least behind the major crowd. I suspect their were armed guys in the crowd, and the French were using Snipers to take them out, perhaps, and when things got too hot, some of the other French troops joined in. Probably not a concerted effort by the french to inflict carnage though, that would have been too easy with the firepower they had there. Bottom line though, its really too hard to tell exactly what happened.

As someone else had pointed out, had this been white Americans firing on Black people, the howls in the world media would have been deafening..

Man it is so refreshing to see a group of people chanting "Jesus" and holding up Bibles for a change as they demonstrate isn't it? They are likeable folks that's for sure.
