NEW YORK -- A document released for the first time today by the American Civil Liberties Union suggests that President Bush issued an Executive Order authorizing the use of inhumane interrogation methods against detainees in Iraq. Also released by the ACLU today are a slew of other records including a December 2003 FBI e-mail that characterizes methods used by the Defense Department as "torture" and a June 2004 "Urgent Report" to the Director of the FBI that raises concerns that abuse of detainees is being covered up.

Ok this is starting to get personal. I really think they need to pull the ALCU's tax status.

Honestly, can the ACLU get any more anti-American?

Executive Orders are chronicled on the Federal Register at the National Archives. Or does the ACLU have access to the SECRET archives located beneath the All Seeing Eye on the back of the dollar bill?

Seems to me if this was true, Kerry would have had this e-mail as well.

"A document released for the first time today by the American Civil Liberties Union suggests that President Bush issued an Executive Order authorizing the use of inhumane interrogation methods against detainees in Iraq"

Being lawyers, I sincerely hope that the ACLU is being very careful about putting an accusation like this in print.

ACLU "suggests that President Bush issued an Executive Order authorizing the use of inhumane interrogation methods against detainees in Iraq. "

I suggest we start using such methods against the ACLU insurgents in the USA and break up that brood of vipers!

Time to purge the FBI. Maybe these leakers should be forced to view the pictures from the torture chambers in Fallugha. Time for these ACLU morons to wake up and see just what we are fighting.

I guess if keeping some terrorists wanna bees up for days on end and humiliating them some keeps even ONE of our guys alive, more power to the "Torturers"

Time for the ACLU to go bye bye. They have obviously decided to side WITH the enemies of civilization this time.

"The two-page e-mail that references an Executive Order states that the President directly authorized interrogation techniques including sleep deprivation, stress positions, the use of military dogs, and "sensory deprivation through the use of hoods, etc." The ACLU is urging the White House to confirm or deny the existence of such an order and immediately to release the order if it exists. The FBI e-mail, which was sent in May 2004 from "On Scene Commander--Baghdad" to a handful of senior FBI officials, notes that the FBI has prohibited its agents from employing the techniques that the President is said to have authorized.."

So why doesn't the ACLU publish the actual document instead
of just discussing it? "2-page e-mail that REFERENCES
an Executive Order..." This is as bad as the old "reliable
source" cover! Besides, in looking at those modes of
"acceptible" torture, I personally don't think they're all
that bad! I don't see anything about cutting off hands,
noses, arms, heads; disemboweling, siccing the dogs on
them, or having the dogs mawl the prisoners. The hood/
sleep deprivation is hardly torture by Eastern standards!
Those tactics are merely to confuse and make the prisoner
get lost in a mental time zone due to fatigue. I don't read anywhere that starvation or thirst is being used, either.

The ACLU has a long history with this country of offending the vast majority of heterosexuals in order to ensure that a tiny minority of homosexuals will never be offended or hindered in any way from acting out their disordered fantasies (at the cost of their health and their very lives). The ACLU is willing to put children at risk so that homosexuals can pretend to be normal.

The ACLU has a long history of mocking the religion of the majority of this country, of defending those who deliberately shred decency in the name of diversity.

Because of that history, the ACLU has NO credibility with me. They have lied, cheated, and stolen for the sake of libertines. So, if the ACLU says that President Bush said or did something that caused the enemies of my country pain, I either applaud President Bush for his wisdom, or realize that it's just so much more lame ACLU idiocy.

Beware of letting the ACLU set "COOKIES" on your computer! Remember, they're also getting flak for data mining...probably are also building a sophisticated online enemy list....

Shields UP!

This is a press release, did it need to be excerpted?

Having full text of these types of docs at FR have been useful in archive research.

Did it prompt you to excerpt? Or can we copy it here?

Those so-called "inhuman interrogations techniques" alleged in the FBI e-mail are very much "Legitimate” even according to the Geneva Convention.

So how do they want us to interrogate terrorists? By offering them a Prime rib and an ice cream cake? Give me a break.

The Anti Christian Liars Union (ACLU) is the most dangerous left wing political group in America. Our fight as conservatives should be the total destruction of the ACLU.

These clowns have nothing. From the web site:

The documents were obtained after the ACLU and other public interest organizations filed a lawsuit against the government for failing to respond to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The two-page e-mail that references an Executive Order states that the President directly authorized interrogation techniques including sleep deprivation, stress positions, the use of military dogs, and "sensory deprivation through the use of hoods, etc." The ACLU is urging the White House to confirm or deny the existence of such an order and immediately to release the order if it exists. The FBI e-mail, which was sent in May 2004 from "On Scene Commander--Baghdad" to a handful of senior FBI officials, notes that the FBI has prohibited its agents from employing the techniques that the President is said to have authorized

Their PDF is even more vague:
