The Greg X Volz days were Petra's best. "Angel of Light" was another good one from those days along with "Let Everything That Has Breath". Of their ballads, I always liked "Looking thru Rose-colored Stained Glass Windows".

Greg X. Volz's On Bended Knee is the best work he did!

The first Petra album we bought was "Never Say Die." At the time my wife and I lead a folk youth group for our church (long before pop band "Worship Teams" were the rage). We heard "The Coloring Song" on the radio and she wanted to learn it so we could use it. She called me at work and said something like:

"Well, I liked the coloring song, but the next song on the album was VERY different. I think you're going to like the album better than I do."

I cracked up when I heard the album. "Chameleon" follows and it starts with a screaming guitar lick. I could just imagine her reaction. She's got a Bachelor's of Music in performance on the bass viol.

Another good one from that album was "Prase Ye The Lord."

Shalom.
