The Local Government Association says it is not surprised councils want no part in enforcing Queensland's new smoking laws.
Councils can volunteer to police the smoking bans on patrolled beaches, near children's playgrounds and outside buildings.
But a number of them have this week revealed they have refused.
The association's Tony Good says he expects most of Queensland's 125 councils will decline any enforcement role.
"The majority of the anecdotal feedback we're getting from members would suggest that the majority probably, at this stage, won't be opting in to the enforcement program," he said.
"It is understandable given the amount of resources that is required to administer any form of enforcement."
A Colony with some sense!
Where's this? Australia?
SWEEEEEEEEEEET!
Yessssssssss A place to VACATION!!!
Been there before. It ROCKS!
I hear that!!!!!
Oh! An update.
Three stuffing machines sold,
Five people successfully switched over to rolling their own,
And, in 2 days, it'll be a month since I've been doing it.
And, in a month, I've only spent a total of $17.00 for tubes and tobacco for myself.
It's wonderful, isn't it!
Yeah. I still gotta get the wife good at the machine. She emailed me at work and asked me to crank out a couple more packs when I get home.
Hi SheLion and thanks for the ping!
Yes it is, for the pendulum is swinging from the politically absurd to the political desperation created by the absurdity created in the first place!
It IS wonderful! (Your up late my friend)
Nice to see a victory here and there. Home rolled are the best. Did it for a year then switched to non settlement brands. Things are trending away from the anti's lately. But they will be here for so long. Good luck with the snow, those of you up north.
I called my Dad and he told me that his house spends about $300.00 a month on smokes.
He's gonna love the birthday present I'm givin' him.
Sounds like a nice present. We need a new Boston Tea Party. Why are liberals afraid of risk? Its become a cult.
LOL! Good question. They'll run at armed police into clouds of teargas, but second-hand smoke makes them wail and cry like a pack of weenies.
Classic hysteria. Comes and goes. They can not accept that we are at war. A huge war that is already here. We got the big election. That gives us some short time to work fast. You can smoke in Toledo because voting works. God Bless the Pufflist. Hands across chest.

Effective May 1 (not a coincidence) you may be fined or imprisoned for lighting up on the street in Flagstaff, AZ.
The Coconino County board of supervisors has unanimously passed the most draconian antismoking legislation ever. If you're a smoker, boy don't let the sun set on you here. Don't go to see the Grand Canyon, it's a big hole in the ground surrounded by overpriced concessions. Flagstaff is notorious for screwing tourists on everything from car repairs to motel rooms and there's a punitive sales tax on bed, board and booze. I live in this pit and I advise you to gas up in Apache County and don't stop before Yavapai County.
