GOP Says It Found 300 Illegal Votes
Seattle Times ^ | 1/27/5 | David Postman

TUKWILA — The state Republican Party said in court papers filed yesterday that it has found 300 illegal votes and more than 400 that can't be verified in the governor's election.

With Christine Gregoire winning the governor's race by 129 votes, Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance says he now has found far more than enough evidence to persuade a judge to nullify the election and call for a rematch between Gregoire and Republican Dino Rossi.

Lawyers and Republican staffers are continuing to look county by county for votes cast by felons, in the name of dead people or by people who voted more than once, casting second votes either in other counties or other states.

"I expect this number to literally grow every day," Vance said.

Democrats are unconcerned. Their attorneys have argued that Republicans should have challenged improperly registered voters before the election.

Republicans have identified 240 felons who voted illegally. Party workers have been comparing the state's criminal-history database from the State Patrol to a list of voters kept by the Office of the Secretary of State.

The bulk of those are in King County. Vance said there appears to be so many felons who voted in the county that "we will probably never get to the bottom of this list."

He also said the party has identified 44 votes cast under the name of dead people, 10 voters who voted twice in the state and six who voted here and in another state.

Vance claimed the Republicans had found 737 illegal votes, but 437 of those are mishandled provisional ballots. Those ballots were supposed to be kept separate on Election Day but instead were put in counting machines without being verified. The party has not released the names of the people they say cast illegal votes — such as felons and double voters — but it will have to do that before a trial begins.

Yesterday, Republican lawyers filed their responses to Democratic Party motions to have the case dismissed. Republicans dispute the Democrats' arguments that the Legislature, not the court, should hear the dispute and that the court doesn't have authority to call for a new election.

Republicans also argue that they don't need to show which candidate got the illegal votes, only that there were enough to cloud the results.

But Democratic Party spokeswoman Kirstin Brost said, "There's no proof that Dino Rossi won the election, and that's what you need to show."

Shocking!

I was expecting more illegal, fraudelent votes from the communist stronghold of Seattle.

If we can support saddam and osama bin laden with traitors murray and mcdermott, and support domestic terrorists like ujaama with traitors like sims and gossett, we sure as hell can raise a few thousand votes with marxists like the DNC chair and the King county elections board supervisor!!!

What is this country coming to!?!?!

comrade gregoire is the finest union thugs, communists and corrupt king county politicians can fraudently install in office.

Its a virtual LIE
Democrats are willing to destroy their own party over greed and power. They are like children who want what they want, when they want it. Future be damned!

If the "judiciary" is, then, isn't this what the 2nd Amendment is about?

Radical leftist feminist WA State Supreme Court Justice bobbie bridge (of DWI Hit and Run infamy) has been a long time supporter and activist for Washington's largest, most powerful, well-connected and rabid communist anti-gun group, Washington CeaseFire.

Fascists and communists are very predictable.

Nope. This is how Loretta(?) Sanchez stole her first election from Bob Dornan: He could prove legions of illegals voted in that election, enough to have tipped the results. He could not prove that these people voted for Sanchez.

No joke, I bet I could register my iquana to vote and he would get a ballot to fill out. I don't think they check anything. At least not in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.

No. I cannot assume that to be true. There are people on both sides who have criminal records. IMO there are more low level, dime store thugs who feel that Democrats are more "compassionate" and "tolerant" of their lifestyle. What they don't realize is that they are being played for fools and would be thrown to the wolves in a heartbeat. Its all about creating the voter base, not compassion or ethics. Compassionate people don't condone unethical behavior.

Congress needs to make voter fraud in a federal election and act of terrorism with big fines, jail sentences and loss of citizenship in major incidences along with seizure of personal property and real estate of those who are guilty of voter fraud.

That would be a good thing, but it seems you have to be able to PROVE that, for instance, felons voted KNOWING that they were not allowed to do so. Hey.... the county sent me an absentee ballot! I must be ok to vote! The problem lies with the county elections boards, not just the voter.

In Washington, party workers like Brost seek to "convert" voters from Election Day voters to absentee voters. Then they can easily determine from county auditors' lists which voters' ballots have been received and which voters need another phone call.

I am all for folks "being able" to vote absentee.... like if someone can't physically get to the polls, or someone travels a great deal..... but if a voter does it just for the sake of CONVENIENCE (which IS the majority of absentee ballots) I say: "Get off your butt and GO vote!" It's not as though it's an every day occurrence!

ALL Democrats should be calling their party Chair DEMANDING the revote.. I would tell them I want to WIN fair and square... DEMAND A re-vote... !

This is one of the reasons why I am a "former" Democrat. If the Republican party were to pull off a sham such as this, I would hang my head in shame.

There doesn't need to be a "provision" as in a predetermined course of action. There is already a provision as in precedent.

And there isn't (yet) grounds for a recall.

Give her time......

I don't think that's right. The law provides that, if it can be shown that the outcome cannot be determined due to any kind of irregularities, then the court can void the election.

That does not constitute a "recall". A recall can only happen due directly to something a Governor does "while in office"..... Remember Grey Davis? We can't recall Chris..... er Christine.....er..... what's-her-name because she got INTO office by cheating.
